Not at all but it'll take me a while to get something unless it just comes along. I'd like a nice merc but I'm hampered by budget.

As for the term 'enjoy', it's all relative. A plain but originally car brings me enjoyment especially if the rest have been ruined. Something fun to drive can also be enjoyed ;)

Even looking down a bonnet at a merc badge brings enjoyment.

Your right "enjoy" is a relative term - and it is possible (I think) to get enjoyment from stuff that isn't what would normally be classed as enjoyable.

For example - we used to have a Daihatsu Fourtrack here as a farm workhorse.

Objectively speaking - its a hateful thing - the ride was bouncy, steering was a bit like steering a ship (whats feedback :D), it was noisy - and slow - but with that steering and ride - slow isn't a bad thing AT ALL.

But I miss the damn thing - on the right day when in the right mood and in NO HURRY - the thing was interesting to drive - and it had character.

The Santa Fe that replaced it - is a fabulously useful vehicle - and its comfortable, nicely equipped.

But its just a boring tool - a mind blowingly effective and very capable tool - but still - boring.

It is of course a lot better then the Fourtrack - and objectively speaking - its nicer.

id enjoy driving the Fourtrack more though - albeit not as a daily driver for the reasons mentioned already - steering/ride etc

I'll admit nothing! It sucks because usually people are able to point towards something on this, but not with this

    so lonely.....so very lonely...

Did it die gradually or suddenly?

Would the starter motor still turn it over after it cut out?

Sorry - don't have any images of it :(

Which reminds me - I had better buy a digi cam and take pics of the 2.0 diesel Corolla outside while it still works.

Its got too much sentimental value not to have one taken before the inevitable happens and it gets weighted in :(

Didn't put the lower expansion tank hose on properly... queue a cloud of steam and warning lights on my way up past the hell fire club! Got it sorted very quickly, the joys of DIY! Need to get more coolant and then test it.
    Ahem...... :pac:

That's the hope, don't know if I have confidence in it at the mo. Wouldn't fancy a long spin, without a rake of tools and coolant handy! Should be okay, was just a single hose, that I had my doubts about when I got it on in the first place. Here's hoping there's nothing too serious up with the Saab! I must get a look at that beast one of these days!

When it works that is :pac: I really hope it's just the cps sensor and di cassette, I've the two ordered so hopefully, all the codes are pointing towards the two, all the forums that say what happened are saying them two, so with a bit of luck

Have heard mention previously of those DI cassettes failing - and that many owners apparently keep a spare in the boot for when it happens.

Hope its a simple fix anyway

I'm not into all that modding stuff. I actually just want a plain jane car to enjoy.

    Who said anything about modding?
    He suggested a standard car.

I think ba just means the whole turbo, sporty thing about the Mira.

Strange way to put it though.

Not particularly sporty with, on Irish fuel you're looking at about 50hp being drain by the 4wd.
They're meant to be great fun and seriously cheap to run though. Nice rare factor about them too.

Something like that but I'll admit I thought it was a modded car. I like original cars kept original. Is there one if these wiras for sale to look at?

I thought it was a modded thing tbh. If it's what you describe it doesn't sound bad

They don't come up often but I'll have a look.
And don't forget, JDM just means Japanese Domestic Market, not Japanese Drift Monster like some young lads think. :p

    Off to donedeal.

Some people actually think that or are you just making that up? :)

Well it was satire but I do intend on making my JDM Roadster a Japanese Drift Monster. :pac:

None for sake ATM but they pop up from time to time.
Daihatsu Mira Turbo and Suzuki Alto Works, that's some googling for you. ;)

I dream of building an sr engined one, purists will hate that but that light shell and a reliable 300bhp would be insane!

There's a fair few on the drift scene in Ireland already, they go for €5-7k depending on spec.
Probably best to buy and save a load of heartache and time :)
