I heard it drive into the space before I saw it .....

Looks mint, presumably not 100% original of course but in great condition.

Have to say this reminds me of car I went around in as a kid in the mid 70s.

Can't remember the make/model but it was a smallish purple coloured saloon.

The rear seats had no seat-belts (obviously) and fake plastic leather. As a kid you would slide on the rear seat when going around corners.

The back right hand side door wouldn't keep closed so there was a rope/bungee chord linking the two rear door handles to keep the faulty door closed! That was terrifying.

The bit that was fascinating was the 6 inch round hole in the floor under the drivers seat like Freds car above! You could sit there looking at that hole in the floor literally watching the world outside go by... :pac:

I know the owner well. She's had some lovely Mercedes since the early 80s. Had the pleasure of being in the back seat of a few of them as a teenager as I was great friends with her son.

I like it, but then I like all W123's.
Can't honestly say it'd look better with 83-TN-100201 or some-such on it.

2 in the Botanic Gardens car park.

I really enjoyed pulling up beside this in my own carina ii. Had a chat with the owner between showers, has owned it since 93, only 70k on it. Unfortunately some bastward broke his rear fly window in the car park 10 minutes before. He doesn't think it was to take anything, he thinks it was somebody with a gripe about the way he parked.

    :(

Hopefully he gets sorted, but I can’t imagine finding a fly window for a Carina II estate will be easy

Compared mine to his Duke, I think they're identical so I gave him the details of a breaker in Collon that has 2.

Reminds me of a time I managed to lock the keys in, in the ignition (car not running) of my Carina E in Roxborough shopping centre car park. Went up to Roxborough cop shop, told them the situation and asked them if they could lend me something to smash a window with. Understandably they said no as they would have no way of knowing what I'd do with such an implement.

Went into the filling station across the road. They lent me what I think was the tool to open the manhole covers for the diesel/ petrol tanks but they wanted collateral so left them my phone.

Smashed the drivers side fly window. Weekend after I put some clear perspex in that I had lying around and it did the trick. Knew she wouldn't be on the road for much longer after anyway and never carried people in the back anyway so hence went with the quick fix. It actually did go through a NCT after with it too in spite of a good few telling me not a hope it would pass.
