Meath Kildare in the O'Byrne Cup Sunday but you'll have to watch it in Irish!

Dont mind watching a game in Irish ever, TG4 do outstanding coverage of GAA games in both codes and at many levels. Would like to see them get some championship games in fact, given the amount of games they cover that the likes of RTE, TV3 and Setanta wont touch.

Didnt know that was on Sunday, will give it a look alright, although difficult to get too excited about a pre-season tournament game even if it is a final unless your county is in it

How are Cavan looking this year btw?

Looking very strong. Beat Monaghan well last weekend and we're in the McKenna Cup final tomorrow night against Tyrone. It's a pity it's not televised.

Very strong panel this year. The McKenna Cup has seen an experimental panel used with only about 7 regular starters from last year starting each game. It's really showing the strength in depth we have now. Gearoid McKiernan should be back from his cruciate injury towards the end of the league.

Bookies have us very short odds for promotion from Division 3. We were 2/1 but are in to 7/4 now.

On the subject of sports on tv it's disappointing that RTE don't cover the national Basketball cup finals anymore, these are on tonight. They used to broadcast the semi's and finals up to a few years ago, letting their greatest commentator Timmy McCarthy loose on an unsuspecting public, Boom Shaka Laka, Downtownnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn, Parker he goes inside out, shake and bake

Worst weekend of sport in a long time. FA Cup in soccer, with not even a stand out tie to look forward to. Heineken Cup finished for a while and the 6N not started yet, not even any celtic league (or whatever its called now) on. GAA leagues yet to start in football and hurling. Not even much darts, cricket or other stuff on. Aussie open final likely to be a mismatch even

Ah well, may as well score some brownie points by doing some household chores as after the famine comes a feast.....

I hate FA Cup weekend (unless my team is doing well in it :pac:). The only positive for me is that the Sunderland game is being shown by Fox Sports in America so I'll be able to stream it.

Apart from that though it's just very much an opportunity to get a bit of work done for the first weekend since......the last FA Cup weekend :pac:

I am indeed Swiper, and I played a lot too, mainly with our secondary school but started to train with the senior team in Castlebar around the time they were trying to launch a league team.

Some great years entertainment around this time watching the McHales and Deora Marsh.

Feel asleep listening to it last night :) Who won?

Not too far from you I'd say PARlance. Living near Castlebar myself. Where do you play your golf?

Not sure there'll be much interest in here but France won (again!) the Euro Handball today in Denmark.

For once they were not the favourites. The Danish, previous european champions, at home, who beat the French a couple of weeks ago in a preparation tournament in France looked a bit ahead. But today France gave them a 41-32 thrashing, some kind of a handball lesson ! The Danish seemed caught by the pressure. Weird for such an experienced team.

    (sorry it's in French).

This team is unbelievable. That's their 7th win in 7 finals out of the last 11 major championships (olympic games, world championships, euros). Probably one of the best team-sport team in history. Bravo Messieurs!

Anyone else following "The Bridge II" on BBC4, this is very good, not as strong as the first series maybe but top class television anyway.

Addicted to it! Have to agree with you it's still really good, but definitely not as strong as the first season.

    Never watched it... Any good?

I think it's very good in patches but it's certainly an acquired taste. It's full of pop culture references and is a "clever" show. You'll know whether or not you like it after a few episodes. Edit:In saying that season 2 is better than the first.

Parts of Season 3 and Season 4 were poor. The creator and main writer was ousted for season 4 but he;s back now and it's been very good so far again this year.

The Big Bang Theory or Two and a Half Men it is not. It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia is my favourite American comedy but I do really enjoy this but it's probably a marmite show. It's a favourite of the critics and has a cult following, doing well to survive in mainstream TV so far.

Whats the word for this.. It's wrecking my head

Trusting someone with your Facebook password is the same as trusting someone with your car keys and asking them not to steal it

I can't think of the word! It's not anecdote?

I'm trying to think of a reason for giving someone my FB login details. I can't think of any at all.

    What reason did you have??????

No no you dont understand! I wanted the word to describe comparing one example with a similar but different example, such as above.

Giving someone your password vs giving someone your keys

It's not really an anecdotal example, but I guess you could make a case for describing it as such. It's not the word I'm looking for.

It's a metaphor. And a poor one ar that :-)

An anecdote is just a story.
