Can't see an England comeback from here but would be nice to make it close

Shame about result but they kept going for the 80 anyway.

Ill-discipline, unforced errors and two periods of lack of concentration either side of half time.

Good game between Wales and Italy. No way this particular bunch of Italians should be 13th ranked or whatever they are.

NZ V Samoa..Dear God! Don't think I've seen a more physical game of rugby. Astonishing, powerful, skillful stuff….if you missed it, make sure you catch it. Some stunning rugby and the crowd at Warrington were fantastic, got totally behind the Samoans. God help any team coming up against either of this lot…and Mossy Masoe! A bloody wrecking ball…SBW, one of the biggest howlers I've ever seen...

Didn't see it, have to make do with the highlights at nearly midnight, probably only about 2 mins from that game. Already more interesting this year than previous tournament I think. Teams having a real go and not rolling over to have their tummy tickled. Italy and, sounds like, Samoans already.

This game had it all, scoreline very definitely did not reflect the game. Superb 80 mins of rugby…enjoy...

Great run though..still, highlights the stupidity of strolling to the dead ball line in either code.

Cracking game there tonight in fairness, but no surprise considering both sides were full of NRL talent.

Ireland v Fiji tonight in the Rugby League World Cup Finals! No match thread, not much mention of it anywhere. Can there really be such little interest in this competition and yet there can be hundreds of posts on the Union forum about the most mundane Pro 12 Match. Is there no crossover of fans between the two Rugby codes?

Well said, totally agree…just a strange scenario in Ireland with regards to RL. I'm a massive fan of both codes, indeed I don't see how you can be a fan of one and at least not enjoy the other…but there's a very strange attitude in Ireland to the game. A real, real shame. I've got union mates who'll watch AFL, NFL, Gaelic but mention league and you get a very strange knee jerk response…

Looking forward to the game tonight to see how we gel together!!

Yeah, you'd wonder if they would have been better off letting Ireland play all or maybe 1 more of their games at home if it was possible...can't imagine many rocking up to Rochdale to watch this tonight. Don't know many of the Fijian team, but they do have Civoniceva who is an absolute legend and Uate and Koroibete are both top notch NRL operators, so it'll be a tough game. Hopefully the Irish lads give a decent account of themselves. Looking forward to seeing this guy Hasson in particular.

Is the game only on Setanta 1?

Big fijian community in Rochdale, biggest in The UK. The game's a sellout so the place should be rocking. Really looking forward to seeing Ireland perform, think we can do a job tonight, but it won't be easy.

Really? Didn't know that about the Fijian community there..guess they knew what they were doing scheduling it for there so. Makes it even tougher on the Irish team, but if they show the same spirit shown in the last RLWC they'll be fine.

Ireland do play a home game v Australia in Thomond Park

As Toomevara says Reading is a home to a large Fijian community.

Bookies have us as 14 point underdogs for tonight. We really got a rough deal in the draw this time round and essentially tonight is a must win if we are to repeat our Quarter Final appearances in 2000 and 2008

Very casual armchair follower of Rugby League in general - never really had much exposure to it so never get overly into it; but happy to say the excitement levels have edged up for this one. Come on Ireland!

I think that's a game well worth going to.

All set for Ireland v Fiji, hope fully we get a win which barring any upsets in the rest of the group matches, will get us into a qf
Surprised to see Petreo still playing at 37. Never mind the fact that Australia's most capped forward is playing for Fiji....
