Easily the best DJ in Ireland. His range of musical knowledge is unreal, and he's a bit of craic too.

    Good man, John.

As much as I am a fan of JC, I'm always on the lookout for other DJs worth listening to, who play a different range of music.

Tonight I heard Neil Doherty's Saturday Sounds on RTe1 for the 1st time...really enjoyed his style and his music selection.

Yeah but it wears after a while. Neil's been broadcasting for quite a while and his style never seems to change, bit too saccharine for my tastes.

Then Charlton Heston put his vest on :D

Anybody notice the similarities between that John Cooper Clarke song and ‘Sorted For E’s And Wizz’ by Pulp?

‘A Heart Disease Called Love’ - some of the chord progressions and instruments used to me sounded very similar.

Didn't hear it but he should change his twitter handle to the above. It would save him having to spell it out all the time.

‘May You Never’ by John Martyn.

    John’s back :D

Cathal has played 2 John Martyn tracks on Late Date and promised 2 more before end of show (it’s the 10th anniversary of the great mans passing for those unaware). I would have offered odds of 1/100 that MYN would be one of those played. Halfway through the price is now a very backable 1/5.

    Any takers? 😉

Ah Gideon Coe, back in the mid 90's, he was on GLR (now i think BBC London), and had a drivetime programme, anyway one Friday teatime I had come home to my flat in Stockwell, after a godawful week, and was sitting in the kitchen looking at the sun setting behind Battersea Power station, sipping a glass of white wine and getting herbally refreshed, when Shine On You Crazy Diamond came on, after maybe four or five minutes, Gideon Coe's voice came in, and said "ah you can almost hear the rustling of the rizzlas". A perfect interjection.

I really like the show. One evening flicking I heard Downbound Train by Bruce Springsteen and I don't think I've ever heard it on the radio before. Turns out it was John Creedon's show. Always enjoy the mix of chat and music.
