Iraq has weapons of mass destruction! Ooooops.

How did I know that would be the response...predictable as ever.

The last thing the world needs it some crazy A-rab with his finger on the button.

Yeah just put the word terrorist into it and the dumb yank public will fold like tissue paper. Bush had his finger on "the button" for 8 years and that guy was crazier than anyone.

And you know all these claims to be fact? How exactly? Because what's what the Iranian minister of propaganda says?

Because they have been able to account for every gram of uranium they have enriched. If any of it was being diverted it would be noticed, it hasn't, none. Even the US accept this. They haven't enriched anything past what is needed for medical devices and a power program, nobody is even disputing this.

But a crazy Zionist who believes he is the leader of "God's Chosen People" with his finger on the button is ok?

Tell me there Tom, How many countries have Iran attacked in the last 200 years?

Yeah they're all brown and wear funny clothes and like to scream 'ALLAHU AKBAR' and 'DEATH TO AMERICA' while firing machine guns into the air.

Usual fallback position of attacking the US I see.

    Based on what evidence?
What do you know that China, Russia, Mossad, the CIA and nuclear inspectors don't?

Assad is just a puppet of Iran
The real issue here is the US want to make a statement to Iran, by bombing Syria, that they cannot continue to pursue nuclear weaponisation or that there may be consequences

The fact that you think that post was about America proves you are beyond clueless.

Fair enough you probably meant Israel. How many times has Israel been attacked by the likes of Syria and Egypt?

What does that have to do with Iran, who haven't attack anyone in over 200 years? Also, how many times have Israel attacked Lebanon and Syria?

You brought Israel into the thread.

You brought Israel into the thread.

You brought up the idea of nuclear weapons in the hands of religious nut jobs, there is only one country that fits the bill in the region. Funnily enough that country has a penchant for using incendiary weapons on civilian population centres but instead of the US trying to punish them, they give them billions in Military "aid".

And Obama is just a puppet for Saudi Arabia.

    Sunni vs Shia
    Saudi Arabia vs Iran/Syria
    Israel/USA vs Iran/Hezbollah
    USA vs Russia

It's a power struggle for the region. Saudi Arabia are pumping vast sums into the civil war funding the sunni rebels. Russia wants to keep their Naval Port in Syria and it has already made pipeline deals with Assad.

The same man who was one of the main antagonist in the abduction of Chavez and failed coup in Venezuela a few years ago.
What a morally upstanding man he is.

There was some US mouthpiece on the radio earlier attacking the Russians for using its veto... said it made a mockery of the United Nations. When asked about what he thought about the US's own use of the veto throughout the years, and the countless lives that have been lost or effected as a result he just laughed wryly and continued on his rant.

I wanted to punch the steering wheel. Some of the loons calling for intervention have no idea of their own hypocrisy.

I fully understand the Russian and Chinese position. They were duped into approving a "no fly zone" over Libya in 2011, ostensibly to protect the civilian population. NATO used this UN resolution to effect regime change and topple Gadaffi.

The US, in my opinion is at its weakest point in a generation. The dollar is weak and the economy is only being stabilised by the printing presses through massive quantative easing. Also they have been at war for more than a decade with nothing to show for it. Iraq is back to close to 5000 deaths a month. Afghanistan is a mess. Libya is a mess. N. Korea is still a major threat. The Americans are suffering from imperialist over stretch just as the Romans and British did before them. All this at a time when their allies are faltering.

Of course Russia is going to push to see how the US will react. But they are in an extremely difficult position. Strike Syria in a limited action and it achieves nothing only ridicule. The alternative is strategic long term intervention.

We are witnessing a major challenge to US hegemony.

My own opinion is that we will see a much larger and prolonged intervention in Syria by the US and its regional allies than is anticipated.

What the consequences of this will be are anyone's guess but Iraq and Lebannon at least seem poised to be further dragged into the conflict which could resemble a multi state civil war split along Sunni/Shia lines. Combined with possible Israeli and Iranian involvement.

It is a very dangerous situation.
