Nah the arse dropped out of it mate, was a big struggle to get it up from 33 (where it was) to 16 (where it is now). It's been very hard but I have somehow achieved it by ... erm being stuck in the relegation zone pretty much all season (until a couple of weeks ago) ...

Oh I thought you keep it, strike that part so! My bad

I thought you keep your manager rank no???

Technically you have no rank if you have no club? You keep your manager points alright but as Baz said it still creates a gap.

Although the current way is maybe not the best, or most fair -it is the only way that was the easiest for transparency and ease of working it out.

I must admit I'd like a 2nd factor to be taken into account, but like Baz says what it is I have no idea what would work.

    What about this.

    1. Manager ranking (on a points system so based on say 50 managers, #1 ranked manager gets 50 points, #45 ranked manager gets 5 points)

    2. Average points at current club x 100. handicap system so -5 points off total for div 2, -10 for div 3, -15 for div 4. (1.90 in div 1 = 190 points, 2.2 in div 3 = 220 points - 10 handicap = 210 points)

    3. Loyalty bonus. 10% of total games at current club (200 games = 20 points)

    4. Boards posts in 30 days % 2( 10 posts = 5 points)

    Example

    Manager A
    Ranking 12 = 38 points
    Ave points 1.8 = 180 points
    Loyalty 230 games = 23 points
    Boards posts 2 = 1 point
    Total = 242 points

    Manager B
    Ranking 32= 18 points
    Ave points 2.15 = 215 - 10(div 3) = 205 points
    Loyalty 200 games = 20 points
    Boards posts 10= 5 points
    Total = 248 points

Now it's probably making it all too complicated, but it's just an idea.

The average points at current club allows a manager who's doing well in a lower league to have a decent shout at a good job, albeit with a handicap as it's gonna be easier to pick up points in lower leagues.

The loyalty bonus just gives someone who stayed at a club forever who now wants a new challenge to have a better shout over someone who switches clubs more regularly.

The boards posts bit may be a way of getting more activity on the thread.

Since I'm still one of the newest managers here I may be talking out of me arse with the above so apologies if so.

Can't argue with any of that Doc... the logic seems sound!

Whilst it may be extra work for the lads allocating the jobs, let's be honest it would only ever be used for the big big jobs...

It's worth doing imo, good shout man

    1. Manager ranking (on a points system so based on say 50 managers, #1 ranked manager gets 50 points, #45 ranked manager gets 5 points)

No problem with this bit, and easy to calculate
    2. Average points at current club x 100. handicap system so -5 points off total for div 2, -10 for div 3, -15 for div 4. (1.90 in div 1 = 190 points, 2.2 in div 3 = 220 points - 10 handicap = 210 points)

No problem with it as an idea as another factor to consider, however I am not sure about the handicap bit of it being included.
    3. Loyalty bonus. 10% of total games at current club (200 games = 20 points)

Another interesting factor, and loyalty should be rewarded for me.
    4. Boards posts in 30 days % 2( 10 posts = 5 points)

Do you mean boards posts in 30 days, 50% of that expressed in points?
I do like the idea of rewarding boards activity, but specifically limited to the soccer manager forum, maybe even the boards league related threads?

This makes it difficult to calculate, and also there maybe needs to be a cap on that as if not it would be easy to negate someones loyalty bonus by spamming the thread!

Can you maybe do up some real examples just to see? say pick an active manager from each division, a realistic example - just to see how it pans out?

If you don't, I'll try it myself at some stage over the weekend.

Ya might be one of the newest managers on here but I like your idea, well thought out.

As Tupac says it is a lot of extra work for mods but how many top clubs became available in last few seasons.........Barca and as a consequence dortmund and Chelsea just recently

Yeah sure il do some real examples later. Just on the handicap part, if you look at my record it's 2.38 points from 81 games I think but that's from div 4 and 3 only where the majority are unmanaged teams. Theres no way that would be that high in div 2 or 1 so I think without a handicap the lower division teams would have an unfair advantage in that metric.

The boards posts one I shouldve clarified better, I meant to say the boards.ie league posts only, but your right that one is hard to quantify.

So I just took the league leaders from each division and compared, the highest ranked manager (man city) ended up with most points anyway. Oh and I only counted boards.ie league posts for last 3 days instead of 30 as there's 10 pages alone for just those 3 days and I don't have all night :)

    Boca ranking 41/47 = 6 points
    Av points 2.38= 238 -10 =228points div 3 loyalty 81 games = 8.1 points
    boards posts 3 = 1.5 points
    Total points = 243.6

    Flamengo ranking 17/47 = 30 points
    Av points 1.83 = 183 - 15 = 168 points div 4
    loyalty 344 games = 34.4 points
    boards posts 1 =. 5
    Total points = 232.9

    Ac Milan 33/47 = 14 points
    Av points 2.36 = 236 - 5 = 231 points div 2
    Loyalty 83 games = 8.3 points
    Boards posts 0
    Total points = 253.3

    Man city 5/47 = 42 points
    Av points 2.04 = 204 points
    Loyalty 286 games = 28.6 points
    Boards posts 1=. 5 points
    Total points = 275.1

They have been free for ages, so should just be a case of quit and apply.

You will never be let in Kiev again if you somehow keep Sporting up while Kiev go down, there is a chance!

Will be good to see Sporting survive the upcoming onslaught even though I had my eye on some of them.

I take it by the 4 stars so he's not getting the Rangers gig?

Few days from buying from unmanaged is turned on and a randomer applies for one of the best unmanaged clubs??

    Sorry but fairly questionable timing

    Pity

All i'll say is keep an eye on the ins and outs of those 2 clubs. I have a feeling they're going to be friends of current users or duplicate accounts that will either sell their current players for cash to said user or buy up the good players from unmanaged for cash and subsequently sell them on to said user. Once their job is done, they'll quit and never return.

It has happened previously but nothing was proven

    Watch this space.....

The Rangers manager is friends with Baza Rakus?

The other guy is Irish anyhow...

The more managers the better obviously but we want boardsies at the same time.

Cake, and grief counseling, will be available at the conclusion of the test
