I only now heard of the protest but i'd safely say it';s about FF and their cozy relationship with the criminal bankers and also about how FG watched on in silence.

I think its about O'Driscoll being dropped from the Lions.

I'd say as a Govt shill you are really delighted.

First time I have been accused about being a shill , govt or otherwise.

I would love for a protest to be successful and lead to bankers, and politicians getting jailed.
Bring on jail . However this protest is a shambles . Nobody knows what they are protesting about.

heard a bit about it on the news, sounds like it could lead to more protests with greater numbers. Hopefully momentum will gather

This is exactly what's needed. A new party that could possibly sweep to power and shake up the old boys establishment.

so some irish folks will have to start the process of founding that new party and then we can take it from there…

Was reading politics.ie earlier and someone writing in their post wrote David Scum instead of Drum. I thought it was funny.

How did todays protest go does anybody know?
how about jail for leaving a plastic bag behind you at a bottle bank?
(it wasn't today or yesterday mind you)

    link

Reading this makes me sick. Fined and jailed over a plastic bag. That poor man. Dump billions on top of the Irish taxpayer and citizen though and its all ok.

Something else that makes me very sick about all this banking sh1te is that David Scum doesn't even have to live with the consequences of his greedy, selfish fcuk ups. He fled.

There was once a banker named Drum,
Who partied with a load of scum,
    His bank slumped,
    And billions they dumped,
Onto the Irish who became numb.

I'm a little scumbag, short and stout,
Here's my bank, and here's my snout,
When I'm finished with my bank, hear me shout,
    Where's the moolah, I need a bail-out.

The main issue to protest about is a deliberately created financial crisis to bail out Anglo Irish Bank. The dirty banksters were involved in god only knows what and went along with their US partners like Lehman who went along with Bush's dangerous adventurism in Iraq. ALL of these risks from war to property investment were taken by banks and governments with an attitude that the people are there to bail it out if it goes wrong!

Now, that bailout of the fallout from the war in Iraq coupled with property investment is what austerity in Europe and the US is about. Ireland under the previous government of course bailed out investment outfit Anglo and its banksters. The banksters coerced that government into doing so. The present government has so far done little to end this carry on either.

People demand that banksters (and their developers) are brought to justice, that they face a choice between long jail sentences or cooperation to locate and pay back the siphoned billions owed to our economy. Any politicians hiding or protecting them deserve jail and also never to be allowed run for office ever again. Since most of the world banksters (and Anglo too indirectly) helped finance the world economy-bulldozing Iraq war, they also deserve to be tried for war crimes, world treason and world economic misadventurism.

Also, we need to see this done QUICKLY. Not 10-years of tribunals and no result at the end! We also need to see money being spent to provide people with proper careers and also a commitment to curb ripoff industries like insurance and commercial rates. Corrupt and overpaid officials in all walks of public life from HSE execs to college department head to senators, TDs and ministers need to be removed if corrupt and their salaries reduced to 52K after tax at most. 1000 a week is obscene money in most countries and this is poor money compared to what they actually get (even excluding expenses!).

does anyone know who recorded the calls and who released them????

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 876 ✭✭✭RiverOfLove

we are witnessing greed in its most ugliest form.

Members of the Irish judiciary invested €millions in Anglo. They are showing the same level of contempt towards the people of this country as they did in post #1947 when they jailed a guy for stuffing a plastic bag into a cardboard box at a recycling plant.

The DPP issued a gagging order on the Indo.. go figure!

By the looks of it, there won't even be a trial with a 6 year limitiation and all. We're five years into this mess and there's nothing. The indo being forced to not to release any more tapes is a cover up, pure and simple.

    Interesting.

Which ones? How much did each invest?

does anyone know who recorded the calls and who released them????

    No.

We know the tapes are internal bank recordings.

We know that the Gardaí had access to the tapes for the last 4 years.
We know that the Quinn family had access to at least some tapes as a result of discovery orders.

IMO, it's fair to assume that the legal teams of at least some of the defendants in upcoming trials would also have access to them. "Book of evidence" and all that.

Beyond that - the reporter refuses to divulge his source.

the Irish people need to know who the source behind these leaks is and what their agenda is. Why did they surface now? Who has to benefit? no matter how hard it may be to contemplate at present, every story has two sides. The truth is that many bank officials were telling lies, and not just those in Anglo. Don't need to ask questions when the we already know the answers.
Ansbacher was exactly that- operating as an unlicensed bank and doing backstairs loans to the D4 and Oireachtas mob and thats why it came unravelled in the end.

A curious irony that it still exists as a subsidiary to IBRC and was certainly on the list of subsidiary banks at Anglo-Irish Bank
    .

    .

I see this as the wrong reply, there most be a difference between the knowing and proving, and then proving and acting on the proof.

Where are we at the moment? If it can be proved why is there no action?
