Ooh what kind of choices could there be? :D (not that I have any right to ask compared to all the regulars here!)

If the weather plays ball you may get some light a/c from the GA fields flying round the zone/asking for approaches to EIDW. At least that's what I'd be doing if I was sober... Well done on the feed!

Would they get them? Is DUB completely closed, or would there always be a skeleton staff for emergencies etc? What about the other Irish airports?

Happy Christmas to all those that listen in to the feeds, and especially to the Staff of Dublin ATC, The Pilots and the Ground Crews, who are truly a exceptionally skilled group of people and to Boards.ie for giving us somewhere to chat.

There is no zone around EIDW on Christmas day, approaches for free into Dublin all day long.
You may get chatter if they file flight plans with SNN only.
Have flown on Christmas day for many many years and plenty of memorable trips over Dublin, down the liffy, Dun Laoighre, City Centre etc. (not Baldonnel though :) )

Based on what exactly. Be careful just because the airport is closed doesn't mean the airspace has been declassified. It's still available for emergency diversions. You enter the airspace without a plan and permission and it's liable for an MOR. Check you NOTAMs. There's only one that says the airport is closed.

I decided to go with one of the Shannon Sectors, 132.1500 today.
only one sided im afraid, great range to the aircraft but no line of sight to the ground based transmissions.

Anyone know when Dublin comes active again?

    Pat.

    Good job.

Although over the years AIS advised they had no plans filed so a few have taken liberties.

In fairness considering the weather I would love a trip over the city and the airport.

Agreed, not everyone I know who used to fly Christmas day would have filed plans with SNN, our flights did, so can only speak for our own case.

There was something special seeing all the Aer Lingus and Ryanair lined up on the ramp for the day in question :p
