You will need to buy an "irish" version in argos,gamestop/hmv etc here to go on your irish psn account. I will have a little Irish flag on the top left if I remember correctly.

They better not be sold out !! I went in day one of killzone bundles being announced to upgrade to it and was told I'd get a phonecall to upgrade to it as I was high on the list and got a receipt to say bundles can't be bought or preordered. Still have that receipt. Even last week I rang and was told the same.

They basically told me the same thing. If you've already ordered a PS4 that's what you get. I don't think they're letting people upgrade to the Killzone bundle. The guy instore told me that if I wanted the Killzone Bundle I'd automatically be taken off the day one version and tacked onto the back of the queue and possibly waiting months. I think that's what they mean. They can't accept pre orders on them because they don't know the supply situation. The guy in the shop told me that Sony rang out of the blue and said they were getting five Killzone Bundles, they were snapped up before they could even list them online. So they don't know the ratio of Killzone bundle to normal SKU.
A lot of this seems to come down to complete lack of communication, Xtra-Vision has no idea what Sony are doing so they're wisely holding off on giving out the bundle pre orders.
But as far as retail bundles go, they should have been on top of that months ago. One of my friends has had his retail bundle sorted with Amazon since September. You don't need to talk to Sony about that, all it takes is for Xtra-Vision to say "Alright, for 440 euro we'll give you a console and a game". Just something simple like that. They couldn't even manage that.
The guy on the phone today told me the games are probably going to be 54.99 so I'll just save up for that. If they do miraculously wake up and announce a deal then happy days. But they've dropped the ball so often I'm not hopeful. Definitely not pre-ordering a console with them again.

I spoke to the manager in my XtraVision last tuesday and he told me that he was not sure on the bundles thing but it would be normal for XV to do their own bundles . I know that I was the 1st to ask the store for the mega bundle and the manager said I have one if he gets it in ,either way I told him I want the biggest and best bundle he gets his hands on ...

But I'm thinking of paying off the console in full now and just leaving it sit in the store for a week or two now as the reports of faulty units are starting to really mount up now . I know ppl from the US on another forum (Guru3D) that reckon as many as 60% of friends/family consoles are faulty. One guy reckons that out of 3 consoles on his street all where faulty .One of these guys is a 10yrs on the forum and is not just someone on spewing crap. A hell of a lot of the consoles that where purchased are put away for xmas ,so its hard to gauge a realistic fail rate yet.

    "
The problems are much larger than Sony is admitting. Out of the 5 people I know who purchased a PS4, two are screwed up. One of them is doing the red-light shut down, and my brothers sounds like a hairdryer.

Right now on Amazon, the CONFIRMED buyers are reporting by the hundreds that their PS4's are not working properly. Which works out to be almost 40% of confirmed owners who wrote a review."

    "
Talking to 3 of my neighbors this morning, 2 came DOA and the other is crashing when loading. I feel bad for those who have issues. Software issues, firmware issues are acceptable for early adoption, but dead unit's and other hardware issues. There are always going to be glitches in new hardware but this seems quite extensive just out of the gate. Sony dropped the ball on this one big time. "

Seriously concerned now and might hold off. The only games I want are AC and Killzone. Maybe I will plough the money into building another PC.

I've heard the horror stories. I think most of the people who've had failures though had them delivered. I don't know if that's significant, but it's a definite trend. Either way, I'll pick it up on day one. If there is a significant fault, they won't be able to fix them this side of Christmas. All of the units that will be on sale until January will have already been manufactured. These shipments have pretty big turn around times. It takes a while for them to go from factory to retail store. A lot of those faulty PS4s were made back during the summer, they can't suddenly change the entire manufacturing process overnight. It took Microsoft four or five years with the 360. That's just the way it goes. I personally think it's probably not as bad as we've been led to believe. This is the first console launch where EVERYBODY is online. Fact is, you're going to be much more vocal if yours was DOA. As opposed to the ones that work, those lucky people are too busy playing their consoles. Although it's clear that Sony's 0.4% failure rate is complete bull****.
We'll see what happens. Worst case scenario my PS4 is damaged, I bring it straight back, get my refund and sit on the money until March or April. But rest assured, if you get a broken one and want to wait for the next batch, it's not going to be resolved in the space of a few weeks.

I wouldn't be worried about getting a faulty one, sure its not impossible but it is unlikely. Usually people happy with the console don't bother reviewing their purchases, its only people with problems that you hear the most from, and sure it sucks for the guys that got a broken one but this happens with complex electronic systems. Given that sony has sold over 1million units and there are 600 1*'s on amazon, at a guess I would say the failure rate overall is less then 1500-2000 consoles across all retailers, that's a pretty dam good number. Anyone put off from these reports should look at it on a grander scale and not be put off in my opinion, You know what they says "there's no news like bad news".

Yehh . I think that we are lucky now that we have the two weeks to see whats happening in the US .

The thing that I am afraid of most though is the console is fine and then it pops a month or two down the line and it is sent for repair ,and then its gone for months.

I went through 3 PS1's in the launch year with bugging out issuues ,all where replaced under warranty .the launch PS3's where a Ylod time bomb.

I might just wait and give it a week or two and see how ppl in Eire are getting on. I'm quite sure it will be all over Boards within a day or two if there is problems.

I think Sony said it was closer to 4% failure in one of the articles. What about all the faulty PS4's going to be sitting under Christmas trees. We won't know how many of those are faulty for a while. Also Amazon users have reported a lot of failures.

First of all most places will hold console no more than 48 hours so it you don't pick it up someone else will get it and you will be put to the back of the line.

I don't think it is as bad as people think. Yes there are 600 reviews on amazon. People will are more likely to leave a bad review than a good one. You ignored the 1,600 five star revies and if all people who got the console the five stars would be higher. I read somewhere (I think gaf) that Amazon sold about 100,000 consoles so if the 600 are all bricked not including the unverified buyers and trolls and the technology illiterate people it is still .6%

I looked at some of the reviews and they should not even count

"Every next generation console launch we see the same thing, people trying to take advantage of the hype and selling the respective consoles at ridiculous mark up prices. Listen people, these consoles will be readily available at your local stores and online at their normal prices by the first part of next year. Avoid all the holiday hustle, hype, and hysterically high mark ups and be patient. " gave one star. There are also 12 unverified buyers that couls also be trolls saying it broke.

I have been talking to friends on facebook and on PSN. All of them experienced no issues and most bought it from Amazon.

I have not heard problems with Best Buy, Walmant Gamestop etc so it could be Amazons batch.

all parents should be checking all toys they get for christmas before packing them away, so these problems won't be a horrible surprise on christmas morning.

Yes, it would still be crap that they have to sort out a broken PS4 - but better to check Nov 29th than December 25th.

Vtra Vision will hold it for me . I've only €25 to pay it off and I'le pay that as soon as I find out what bundle I'm getting next week.

It doesn't matter how much you paid, they'll still give it to somebody else and tell you you'll have to wait.
They're not going to rob your money, but they're also not going to let a console sit in the stock room not being picked it up after a few days when there are desperate parents trying to get Christmas presents. They made it pretty clear to me on day one that they don't give any preferential treatment to people who pay up front.
If you don't pick it up, they might even cancel the pre order all together and just credit your account. They literally have no obligation to hold onto it indefinitely, and it doesn't make sense for them to do it either with such demand.

They won't hold it for you especially this close to Christmas. They will need every inch of space over the next few weeks and from my experience Xtravision stockrooms are very small.

Gamestop are warning people they have 48 hours to collect or it is gone.

There is an Assassin's Creed 4 bundle and a Knack bundle but very few stores are doing the Knack pack. There will be an Infamous SS pack out in March.

It's the only official Sony bundle that all comes in the one box until Infamous comes out next year. Each retailer should be doing their own, separate non-official bundles but Xtra-Vision haven't said anything at all about it.

They don't mind when it comes to software, it's fairly straight forward to swap over. Assuming it wasn't part of a fixed bundle.

Just called into Smyths in Waterford, couple of points of interest.

    Definitely having a midnight opening.

More importantly, they seem to have quite a few Knack bundles because no one seems to want them so it sounds like if you want a console on day 1 and don't mind Knack being bundled in with it, you still have a chance.

And if you have pre-ordered but don't want Knack (nor bothered about not getting it on Day 1)?

actually Knack is an official "all in the box" bundle as well

Anyone with pre-orders in Xtra-vision, don't hold your breath for any info anytime soon.

The Xbox One is out in 3 days and customers who pre-ordered that have had no contact either regarding bundles!!

    Unbelievable.

Haven't seen it posted but was talking to someone in smyths in Carrickmines and they said they're doing the midnight launch for the xbox this Friday so are pretty sure they will be next week

Dunno mate, too many variables in that question, depends on when you pre-ordered and how far down the list you are and so fourth, best bet is to ring them and ask about your specific order but from what I can gather there are people who pre ordered later than others that if they don't want the knack bundle wont be getting a console on day one.

Before Christmas is still a possibility either way but with a console lying there waiting for people I would be inclined to take what is there.

And this is why I never buy a console launch day, and wait until Feb/March when the production recycles.

So many reports of faults, granted its probably sensationalist, still concerning, but bound to happen based on history

But you have to wait until then to play it...
