That interior reminds me of going into a house and discovering that the bathroom hasn't been redone since the 70's.

Too many buttons? It's like a button factory in there!

You could vomit in that car and no-one would notice.

I bet everyone was envious of that car.
    (wonder who will get it)

I saw that car in the flesh last month at a BMW show. (I think it was posted on this thread before too). Car looked to be in great nick. Owner was looking for well over €3k at the time. The vulture in me says he would probably accept an offer well below the asking price. Taking into account the tax still on it we'd be talking a right bargain here.

There's a much nicer 735iL on donedeal for similar money. I can't post a link due to newbie status

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 60,242 ✭✭✭✭unkel

How do you know it's nicer? That said, I would get the V8 myself

Of all the cars I've ever had, I miss my E38 735i the most :(

I'm saying it's nicer in terms of spec, comfort seats, working tv, lwb, and a much nicer colour combo.

Has anyone any experience of importing to the UK as I'm resident there at the moment? There's some serious value to be had here and it has me thinking bad thoughts. Is it massive hassle trying to get a relatively old irish luxobarge legal over there?

Think it was that weird leather upholstered boot lid! These are now fetching £6000 plus in the UK and appreciating.

Yeh it was just the main picture, its not even his car, that's an E38 from the US which is a bizarre thing to stick up.

It is a nice spec, and was for sale about a year ago, looks like its the same seller and he's still misleading the buyer with a picture of a car that isn't his. Makes you wonder what else is amiss.

@ unkel, that 7 is showing in sterling but is actually meant to be in euro, sooooo it is similar money! Mailed the seller last night, he is willing to accept 2300 euro

    Serious of course

They're probably the best looking 7er of all and this is well optioned. Buy this and have 4 years tax for under 10k. Roar past every crap eurobox and prius in total comfort. If you're in Dublin, Valdas will maintain it as new for reasonable money. What's not to like?

CL420. NCT 06/17, €3900. If the service history checks out it's a good buy. Little or no depreciation over a year or two, still a very capable cruiser and daily driver and the W140 was very solid. One of the last built so no niggles.

CL500. For the more courageous and those of deep pockets; new NCT 09/17 €4250.

Outside of budget, but realistically it should be close to half the price considering the mileage.

The full tank of petrol is probably worth the €250! :D

The CL 420 is a lovely motor but it's a bit underpowered for the massive bulk of the W140. I'd still buy it in the morning if I had room and didn't already have one. It will need the drivers seat redone, that all do. it will also need a used PSE pump, €350 ish on flea bay. It's a bit like driving a stately home. 10 speaker BOSE system. Only 26,000 built.
The other CL is being sold by a dreamer. He hasn't a hope of getting that money for a pre facelift car. As for the suspension overhaul he mentions, I wonder what that was

I posted that CL420 a bit higher up on the page. Asking price still the same. Obviously no takers at that money...

Phaeton would be lovely if it was half the price, had half the miles and wasn't a tractor :p
