Not at all. England will be as strong as they always are at this level.

that backrow is interesting, all of them have played 8 for most of their career.

McVeigh wasn't really on the radar until his big senior cup season.

Most backrows at u/age international level primarily will have played most of their rugby with club/school at 8. best player and better for club/school if at 8 but at higher level will have to make allowances for others who are as good/better

I was torn between Cleary and O'Hagan but I thought O'Hagan would get the nod in the end, with Cleary to maybe come on at 12/13.

While AM is a good player and is having surgery he would not have been involved in this u19 squad from my sources close to the camp. He has played very little rep rugby. He did not make the Irish U18s last year for the FIRA tournament, did not start any of the U19 or U18 interpros. He was not involved with the Irish 19s squad last autumn either. The players selected ahead of him for this squad and others not selected(Brennan/Courtney/Leavy) are also very good players and have been extensively involved in the rep squads over the past few years. The selectors can only pick so many!

The other point I would make in relation to AM is what is his best position? For me its FULL BACK as he is a very good broken field runner and not centre as his defence in that position was exposed badly in the u19 warm up game against Italy in August. He Came on as a sub in the U19 interpro against Munster at 15.

Ringrose looked good both in defence and attack. Brewers was just ok.

Ringrose was my man of the match, Brewer was average did nothing to stand out at all, The Ulster 11 Owens a very big man was pretty good early on and 14 Gaffney was good as well and Josh Murphy had a very good game at 2nd row

Will be a different team next week

Just a query guys, I'm an ulsterman, and actually went to school with Ross Todd and Josh Davidson. How well did the Irish pack to against France U-19's, and what do you think are the chances of them getting a run out in the second match (Davidson plays second row, Todd can play anywhere in back row)

If Davidson played 2nd row yesterday he had a good game not sure what number Todd was or if he played. The pack held tough had a few difficult scrums but coped well against a much bigger unit and finished better at the end.

I wouldn't read to much into selection as it will be about seeing lads in games and how they cope suspect everyone will get a run

They both started on the bench, and don't think either of them were used as subs, but good to know that, thanks a million!

As I understand it, the second game will field a completely different starting 15, so every chance that they will get a game

3e tweeted 30 mins ago that it would be shown at 3.25, so maybe it just hasn't been updated on the tv guide.

My expected team to play France in the return U19 fixture. Given the squad announcement last week and the players who played yesterday I can imagine there to be almost a completely new team.

    Cian Romaine
    Josh Davidson

    Conor Oliver
    Ross Todd
