As much as I take issue with the lads on certain things, this series they are doing on RTÉ is excellent.

I don't know if I'm the only one, but I think the radio show is a class above the podcast, possibly because the interviewees are much better.

Have you thought that for a while or just recently? Think this RTÉ series is excellent and a must listen, think the previous two were not.

But one think about having good interviewees on is that it will make it easier to attract good interviewees to them in future.

I think McDevitt and Early will end up on RTE doing a year round show like this and the sports element will fall by the wayside somewhat. McDevitt is an excellent interviewer and Ken is a great protagonist. Surely Miriam and Marian's reigns of terror is coming to an end.

This opinion of mine is actually restricted to the current series, so yeah it's only recently. It's some of the most compelling radio I've heard for a long time, so I'd agree with you that it's a must listen.

Laughing here on the train platform at Rob Kearney being inspiring.

It was liked he was paraphrasing the email asking him to record message.

    It was probably something like

    "Hey Rob,

Would you mind recording a quick message wishing the hockey team well"

They really need to sort out this Liberty Hall Theatre and move somewhere bigger. Getting sick of this shít of no tickets left before I even heard there was a live show happening.

According to the theatre's website, they have a capacity of 411. What would be an obvious alternative that would seat, say, 750, maybe a few more? I imagine it's as much about being cautious and not booking a place they can't fill, as anything else.

It's a bit more than that, but you would fit 1050 in Vicar St.

I doubt they would have trouble filling it.

Id imagine the issue would be it being cheap enough for the sponsor to pay for outright.

Yeah, the only way I'd expect to see them in Vicar St is if they're selling tickets.

I'm not sure if it's a piss take, I paid from the start! But seriously, when you sell out so quick, move up in venue size

Is it a sell out when tickets are free...?

    Yes.

I set my alarm for 11:58, logged on and got 3 tickets by 12:01.

I agree, they would move up, but it would likely mean a large cost increase. example: The Olympia is approx 10k to hire for the night.

Quick question, been a world service member for a few months now. How are the live show tickets announced? Through the podcast or is there any emails? Was on holidays and had a bit of a backlog of episodes to get through so tickets were sold out by the time I heard about it.

What's the context to the "soccer is popular" quote?

Think it was a Putin comment around the WC. It's on one of the audio beds.

Putin giving reassurances about Russia getting the World Cup. Think he also thanks Fifa from the bottom of his heart or something.

Just to add, as many already have, that the interview with Tommy Tiernan on their Saturday show was excellent.
