    It's mad

If this had happened 5 or 6 months ago, you'd have people on here saying how McIlroy is finished/will never win another major/doesn't have the short game to be a true great and other such nonsense.

Yes, that's true. The internet has an endless supply of idiots ready and waiting to spout utter nonsense at the slightest excuse.

Kirk and Horschel 1st and second again after the opening round. Surely one of them should have made the Ryder cup team in this form?

Agreed, they both seemed to really enjoy playing with each other last night and could have made a fairly formidable pairing.

Kirk definitely deserved a pick. Watsons picks were so weak though. Any European should be confident of a point playing against Mahan and Simpson.

You would have thought a pick would spur them on but neither have had good weeks since it was announced. Second week in a row Mahan is thankful there is no cut. Maybe he's got the 17th at Celtic Manor on his mind !!!

    What?? WHAT???

He had a chip of about 10 foot, he used his 3 wood as it was in the heavy rough....it went approx 1.5 feet.... And he then looked perplexed at the grass. I'm fairly sure it's not the green grass's fault Sergio.

Hadn't seen that tbh. Not saying he's the only one guilty of it, it's his demeanour as the ball is in the air irks me. It really is astounding someone hasn't ended up in a wheelchair or worse. / rant over!

Really enjoying it apart from that, don't think I'll ever putt on greens like those, they're unreal.

Not trying to excuse any players not shouting fore but those grandstands are way too close to that green and what is a very long par 3.

Probably less than 30 foot from today's pin. I'd be giving the boss the best seat!

Agree, couldn't believe it when i saw it on thursday. Right on top of the green.

Players get away with murder when they baloon one into the grand stands. I hate it when I see them get their drop close to the green when the ball would have ended up in a different post code where it not for the stands.

There are two loopers in charge of this tournament at the moment!

I think billy is good for the game, seems very likeable. I like the speed he plays, and the big grin on his face when on the 18th a couple weeks ago, when he hit a terrible shot into the water.

I'm not sure that's precisely how I would have expressed it, but there's something about the guy that jars with me slightly.

I wonder how we'll all feel about him if he's still on the scene in a few years' time.

....that's two days in a row he's put his baseball cap on backwards after finishing his round.....I think Rioja is giving me violent tendencies towards him.
