Looking likely he will get the win now. The drive on the par 5 15th was the key to it.

One of the most dramatic final rounds I have seen.

Delighted that he won it after the terrible luck earlier in the round and handling it so well without any tantrums. And an added bonus.. love how he plays so quickly.

This could be good for Rickie going forward managed to survive a bad round and win. Fair play to him

    Delighted, well done Rickie!

"That's probably the best 74 Rickie has shot" - would Sky Sports ever cop on. Rickie was unfortunate over one incident that cost him one shot. That was a diabolical final round, he was all over the place through the first 12 holes or so. Delighted he didn't fall apart after it the incident however, it still wouldn't give me any confidence for him going into the final round of a major.

Lucky...? Having a ball at rest take off after being still for 20 seconds. Not so sure he got all the luck.

I don't think I've ever seen so many players looking to throw away a regular PGA event. Fowler, Thomas and Kuchar were awful, Grace had it and blew it.

I was trying to follow Ricky last night and that ball that he dropped then it rolled back into the water...

"it was determined that Fowler would be penalized one more shot for the ball going in the water. He hadn’t hit it there, but it had been in play"

wow, can't say I've ever seen that before, from what I saw they all played muck, was convinced Branden would be better in the conditions but glad to see Ricky do it in the end as he just sucked up the ruling and got on with it and snaked that long putt

I have to say I am a big fan of Rickie having followed him when I was at The Open 2 years ago his speed is very quick, probably one of the fastest on tour. Yes he was unlucky with the chip could of been down to the conditions or nerves etc but imo he should great grit to keep going his par putt on the next hole was super. and lets be honest it is hard to win these events and they are only human after all!

He is a class act and showed great sportsmanship! My heart was in my mouth have to say! Just like watching Liverpool .. Go Rickie my son..

This birdie from Brandt was something special. Potential to go very wrong from the beach.

Apparently the slow play talk has reared its head again over Pebble Beach.

Last group started their round with 5 hours of sunlight left & only got as far as the 16th hole.

Is it too much to expect a 3-ball (2 pros and an amateur playing in a better ball, so unlikely to finish every hole) to get through a round in under 5 hours?

Most of the groups ahead of them were 4balls. Still no excuse for a 4ball not finishing within 5 hours

It was about 15 - 20 minutes before they got to tee off from their proper tee time and you can't really legislate for what the amateurs might get up to in the round

Hardly a choke, Mickleson was just too good for everyone.

Shooting -1 at Pebble Beach is poor. If he was even -3 for his round and lost by a shot you'd say fair enough but he blew it imo.

I dunno, Phil shoots 7 under. It’s hard to beat Phil when’s he’s playing that sort of golf.

He shoots -3 he’s still beaten so makes no difference.

Very few in the field shot a score that would have won it for Casey. -7 by Phil was excellent.

But if he’s to win he can’t expect to have a neutral round and say he was on for a -3 round then the pressure on Phil would be much greater, as it was there was wide fairways, cut rough and placing, Casey should have done a lot better...

I remember sky interviewed Casey last year or the year before?? The one where Tiger has a great chance to win (Casey actually went on to win it.

In that interview they basically explained to Casey he’s one of, if not the biggest bottler on the pga tour.

Something like if he was leading going into the weekend he’d never won.

Casey said ‘I didn’t know that, that’s for pointing it out’

    👀

He is a bottler in fairness. How many times he’s up there and doesn’t win way more.

A lot easier to shoot -7 if there is no one putting any pressure on, just have to look at Rory & Reed in the Masters for another recent example versus Lowry & Sterne in Abu Dhabi to see the opposite.

He was -4 and still only joint leader so I would presume there was pressure on him and he continued to play quality golf.
