One suspect dead. One at large. Armed and dangerous. White hat suspect at large.

I don't think one is dead, they showed a video of him being put into a police car naked with no obvious serious injuries.

Edit: CNN is saying he is dead. That has me confused now...he looked fine getting into the car.

    Listening to WBUR.

Boston PD Police Commissioner has posted confirmation via twitter.

    https://twitter.com/EdDavis3/status/325157562955751424

One suspect dead. One at large. Armed and dangerous. White hat suspect at large.

If ones dead and the other is still on the run, this poor fella must have been in the wrong place at the wrong time. They made him strip incase he had any bombs strapped to him.

Somewhere in there you need to square up the fact that only one party wished it on innocent people supporting their loved ones running / raising funds for charity.

Murder is murder. Violence is not the answer. His desires (like yours) highlight the hypocrisy in this thread.

The other suspect is in a lockdown area of 12 blocks, im sure some of the residents there are happy of their right to bear arms now.

Police just spotted suspect 2. Jesus I'm nervous just watching a live stream of this. Makes you realise how amazing the police force can be. Let's hope they don't lose another.

I'm trying to understand the logic behind this. What difference does it make that people have the right to bear arms when police have a suspect surrounded? It's not like the police are going to be knocking door to door asking for people with guns to help them out in their siege and if another bomb goes off what goods a gun in your house going to do you?

Suspect 2 apparently seen with explosive device on his chest.

Because as we all know, the only thing that stops a bad guy with a gun is a good guy with a gun.

All you're doing is revealing the violence in your own heart, which in a way, makes you just as guilty as these bombers. Kind of defeats the whole point of criticizing their work.

I don't want innocent people harmed

The police are going door to door.. residents have been told to stay inside, only to answer the door to identified police officers and no one else

The suspect apparently has an assault rifle and is extremely dangerous, one cop shot dead and another in critical.

If they were caught in MIT grounds with pressure cookers, well putting 2 + 2 they may have been planting devices (again speculation)

Either case they were pursued, one is dead the other I am sure, is Very determined not to be taken alive.. and could very well decide to try and take some people with him

Except that nobody advocated murder. I certainly didn't.

Aside from that my point is that there are two levels to this. It's not a black and white situation. You can't equal the murder of the innocent people to someone wishing harm on those who murderered them.

You'd definitely be best to stay indoors, (far away from windows) and lock everything and just keep an eye on the TV if you're in that area.

There'll be a lot of nervous, heavily armed police and possibly nervous heavily armed civilians in the US too.

The police would want to make sure they're REALLY identifying themselves very clearly. A lot of people probably wouldn't open the door at all.

Sounds like they were either ready for another attack / expecting a battle as they reportedly threw a grenade(s) at a cop car.

Suspicion they were around MIT planting devices when the campus officer caught them and was then killed.

And the video of the arrest has been taken off the CNN home page.

Either the guy wasn't one of the original suspects (be that completely uninvolved or there was more than 2 in the plot) or someone got murdered in police custody and a cover up has started. I am thinking option 1 though.

Yeah, there has been a lot of reports of more pressure cooker bombs, and the bomb squad have been called a number of times.

WTF- so this missing student actually was one of the bombers?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,192 ✭✭✭✭Kerrydude1981

They have to take in suspect number two alive,so the whole world can find out there motives for the bombings.

FBI press conference due to start soon

The naked guy who was arrested wasn't one of the suspects and has been cleared/released.

One of the suspects was arrested though, was pronounced dead at a local hospital, and there have been rumours that he had an explosive device strapped to his chest.

They're not going door to door to tell people to get their guns ready though, are they. The police have the area in lockdown. They won't want people coming out with guns trying to be heroes and making a very bad situation even worse.

Haven't they confirmed that the guy put in the police car was suspect number 1 who then died of his injuries? Couldn't see any visible injuries on him myself but I'm almost certain that's what has been reported and confirmed by BPD.

I'm still just absolutely amazed that the US police forces aren't using 100% digital and encrypted radio like over here. Surely there's a strong possibility that the suspects / people supporting them could be listening to police radio, even if it's only local police.

It's enough to potentially compromise aspects the operation.

Given all the cash spent on post 9/11 security, you'd think the federal government / homeland security would have coughed up the funds for TETRA radio or something similar in the states.

TETRA and pretty serious encryption are the absolute norm for all police / EMS communication in Europe.

FBI press conference due to start soon

He reportedly has a device strapped to him and is fairly armed to the teeth (he's injured 3 officers at a mall)

If true, it'll be quite the task to take him alive. Hopefully, he won't top himself and they'll get him alive.

Argh, sitting at work and can't listen to the scanner, very frustrating. Really hope they get the other guy alive, so a motive can be ascertained. It must be so frightening for the residents

It's all over the place reporting wise. The guy who was arrested walked out apparently injury free, no blood etc and bollock naked to the cop car. If he has actually died from injuries sustained ...... Well draw your own conclusions.
