I'll never forgive myself for selling a mint (literally, mint - like brand new) 89 Alto with 11k miles on the clock for €300-ish a few years ago.

Its still around but has been absolutely ruined

Has Duke written all over it :pac: shame the body is in a jock.

I remember that one I think, it was up for sale a few years back for more than you sold it for?

I sold it to one of the lads in Mini Fix (or whatever they're called, in Cloghran) and then it appeared on Donedeal somewhere in the midlands a few years ago.

Someone replaced the original dealer plates with a set of silver-on-black metal ones out of a motor factors, stuck a badge bar on the front with 60s era AA badges etc, a weird universal centre console between the two front seats, and iirc a set of wolfrace alloys. A crying shame

selectamatic still has my 1990 one I think. Its not nearly as clean, but has its own charm

Is the 1990 one green too?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,086 ✭✭✭✭Duke O Smiley

No I think the 1990 one is silver

Have a feeling it might just be the coil pack..
Some silicone grease might do the trick.

Here's a pic from winter 19/20. I daily drove it to school for 3 weeks out of necessity while my faithful e11 corolla had to act as stand in motorway bomber for my brother :pac:

Sitting in a nice dry enclosed shed at the minute.
Small bit of work to be done before it gets it's first vintage/veteran nct disc. Running like a champ though.

Im mighty tempted by that. It ticks all the boxes as a surfmobile and E60 replacement.

But coil packs are expensive for them, and there is probably a shopping list of other issues explaining the lack of NCT. But clean and tidy ones are getting rare.

Too far from me anyway with current regime. :(

I picked up a brand new genuine di cassette a few years ago in the USA for 99 dollars. Got a relative to forward it on to me .
Could be a fine bus alright.
    It's definitely 710 tax? Not 1200 ?

This will be my 6th summer with the Stilo - my fixerupper from 2016. NCT'ed until end of July, and no reason to believe it wont squeak through again. No major mechanical issues in nearly 40k kms Not bad for 350 euro. :pac:

That's worth snapping up. There's a few vag lads around that would pay over 1k for it as is. But I'm not in Dublin.

Something going on there alright. Presumably you mean a tin of gloss was used when you say household paint? Colour match itself looks ok (for a silver anyway). I'd say a spray can of correct colour code was used, just laced on very poorly, in cool weather, laced on thickly, can not shook properly maybe. For me it wouldn't be a deal breaker at this price level if the car was otherwise in ok order.

    SOLD SOLD SOLD SOLD

    2002 Toyota Celica VVTi 140BHP

This is a project car, running and driving, tyres very good, lots of extras, 157k miles, no tax or NCT which is out since Sept., I think.

Leather interior, climate control, sunroof, alloys etc etc.

This is being sold for spares or repair, it's smoking from the exhaust under heavy acceleration. I've had it to two mechanics and gotten two opinions, one says it's over fueling, the other says it's the stem seals are failing. I just purchased it as a light resto but it's beyond my skills to go any further.

Price is €500 firm. PM me for details, car is located near Nenagh.

Pictures here from when I bought it, it's a lot cleaner now

That was the HLX - which was a lightweight compared to the 20v turbo that the Brazilians got! I think they even got it as an estate. Someone on PH in the UK built one a while back.

Mind you, the Marea's chassis was never much up to the HLX's 155 horses, I'd hate to see it try 200. Still, nice car to drive.
