Ultimate bog trotter car, just check out the tow hitch!!!

That's not a tow hitch, thats a reinforced reversing sensor

Lancer could be a good deal, if it was any way tidy

It worries me how much I like those Ventos :o

I got thrown out of the bangernomics thread with this, so maybe I'll be accepted here :o

Wondering if heating up could simply be a thermostat/radiator issue rather than gasket worry? Viscous fan maybe?

Granted its the weedy 1.6, and reasonably high miles, but if the heating is a small issue then I reckon you could do a lot worse for €650. Nice colour, nice wheels, m-sport bodykit (I think?)

Have also learned that the NCT is valid to Feb 2014

Breaking that e36 would surely get you a lot of that back. They are getting rarer and rarer... Would make a very clean donor car by the looks of it.

No NCT, no mention of service history, someone might save it from the scrap yard :)

Was up for much more than the €1000 asking it is now a while back IIRC, not quite sure what's going on with the back two wheels though, look strangely out of proportion.

Take all the tat off it and get it back to standard and might be a nice example. All guesswork of course. Fairly overpriced as it is though. I did look into it alright...

Use of lower profile tyres, possibly cheaper than the 215/55 originally meant for it.... 195/45's are significantly cheaper for example!

    http://cars.donedeal.ie/for-sale/cars/4971986

cool little car, with bonus NCT

    http://cars.donedeal.ie/for-sale/cars/4978156

knowing very little of alfas (other than that they are due a timing belt change every 20 minutes) this looks nice for the money too.

can't see that hanging around. those facelift cars are fooking delicious looking! even if you spent a grand putting it right it'd still nearly be worthwhile.

    Spotted that earlier myself,

 he hasnt any kind of filter on the itbs, see if he has the original plenum box to go with it,

Wonder why it was rebuilt?.. crank bearing faliure id imagine, probably uses a good sup of oil at this stage in its life..

Still, If you got that for 800 it would be sweet

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,700 ✭✭✭Cheensbo

Theres a full exhaust system on it too, manifold & catback, both worth a nice few pound no matter what brand they are :)

If its a tom's dash, worth quite abit too, that thing is a breakers wet dream,..

yeah its a bit of a skip to be fair, you'd wonder whats going through his head (apart from noise) running the throttle bodies bare, and a length of flexi duct stopping half away from them, factory set-up would be so much better id imagine. most certainly the bottom end troubles, probably hasn't seen a service since it came off the boat. it'd be sweet if he had paperwork to back up the work.

cross your fingers, its a longshot, but he's had the advert up a month or two now bumping it a bit so he might accept :) 2-300 would have it right id say. i'l be heading back to college through wexford so maybe, just maybe!

It is, but a lot (most) of them have been in the wrong hands at some point or another by now, so best to take it on its merits,

By now the valve stem seals will be non existent, (220+km) so always a danger of them running dry when in the hands of an incompetent owner, that being said, if its been kept topped up at all, theyre fairly hardy, the rods are known to be weak, but it would take a lot of limiter hopping to worry them.

The heat soak to the intake would be awful, the plenum provides the ability to extract all of the (feck all) torque they can produce, so itll undoubtly be down on power..

Just listen out for the crank knocking, ss arms are probably rattling to hell, a non-ss version is the way to go, (never know, it could be a bzg - people advertise them all as bzr's "cos the bzr has 20 more brake"

I could ramble on all day, see how he takes to the offer first anyway :pac:

has the superslut decals, so it probably is. i'l report back anyway, but not tomorrow evening, its the end of term session :pac:

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 12,985 ✭✭✭✭dgt

Stilo wheels and grille has been changed.... Bonnet doesn't seem to shut right.... GT me hole :pac:

I swore if I were to buy another one, it'd be a diesel one or a 5 pot ;)

Either way, good value for someone starting off!

    I don't think it's even a genuine gt badge :p:pac:

Still though, a nice car :)

    EDIT:

Was going to put this in bangernomics but I think it's better suited here. Nice spec with short test.

    Nope, stickers!

    GT was a 1.8 pre 1999, 1.6 onwards :)

Badge would be on the back, not on the sides. Pre 99 would be 115 16v on the wing

I've always wanted to get this badge and confuse people though :pac:

Worst spelling I have ever seen in an ad but the car might be nice enough if the jobs listed is all it needs :)

this must have went for a song in the end because his asking price now afaik is only 200 quid more than its asking price before all the repairs.
