Havent seem Holloway fighting but watching the 9 minute video I'd be shocked if Conor didnt beat him with ease.

i had a dream last night that the 1st round was really close/uneventful due to conor acting the maggot and he gets brutaily ko'd in round 2. Take that at face value but im pretty sure im psychic :/

in other news id say that aldo would beat frankie about 75% of the time with a half decent finishing % as well but id say that the edge isnt necessarily very big ie cruz beats faber 99% of the time but each fight would be close if ya get me

What? Well that makes no sense! So watching a few mins of 'the best of' some fighter means that he will beat anyone no bother. Holloway is quite decent. This conor title shot talk is so ridiculus atm. He has to work his way up slower just like nearly every other fighter

I watched the blokes highlights and he doesnt look great how can you not make sense of that, conor is an absolute certainty to whop him and ill be betting accordingly.

I'm really looking forward to McGregor smashing Holloway tonight but the hype train is getting out of control on every forum I look at. Nothing wrong with taking it slow and steady 3-4 fights. Let the cut get harder on Aldo then take him out. :D

Is it worth it though at 4/11?

No real money to be made at that price
    ko at evens maybe?
max has never been knocked out, not saying it won't happen though

just watched Mcgregor on the MMA hour.
    Jesus, that was pretty cringeworthy!
The way he keeps going on about being rich just because he won a $60000
bonus (€45,000) That does not make you rich by any stretch of the imagination!
Boasting about wearing Ray Ban sunglasses?!!
I though boasting about putting one of the documentary crew to sleep in a RNC
    was pretty cringeworthy too.
One UFC win seems to be all going to his head and its getting embarrassing.

I like his fighting style and really hope he wins in Boston and continues to win but Jesus he is difficult to listen to!

He feels on top of the world. He's off the dole, in the Ufc and has more money than he's ever had before. He's just happy, give the lad a break.

He SHOULD win. In my opinion he's the better fighter but it's by no means a gimme. Holloway is a far more difficult opponent than Ogle and a much harder fight than you're giving him credit for.

No one knows who's going to win, it's all guess work until it's over. Conor's a million miles away from being an complete fighter, so Holloway has flaws he can target.

If I was to bet, yes, my money would be on Conor. I wouldn't be as blindly confident as you seem to be though.

No certainties in sport but this is fairly nailed on I think, weather i'll be having a big bet on Conor or not I doubt it,I'll catch a few of Holloways previous fights but what I seen in that highlight reel I wasnt overly impressed,And Im not one of the hype believers trust me I wouldnt have him fighting for any title until at least 5 or 6 fights in the ufc at the earliest.

I have to agree, he can be a bit painful at times the way he goes on but I can't help liking him, hes infectious!

Real question is, did he inform the social as such? :)

To be honest I am not sure about Conor. I see unbelievable talent and work ethic and also some awesome highlights. I just hope it translates to the UFC proper. Dont get me wrong, the knockout of Brimage was class but the worst thing to happen is for him to lose on Saturday night, in any way.

Holloway is a good fighter and could give Conor a good fight. I wish he dispatches Holloway like he did Brimage but the usual question arises...ie how will he do against an American wrestler with decent striking? Those ****ers can make any superstar look average.

I hate to predict the future but I see Conor eventually opting to train in America with top class guys. I am sure the guys in SBG are great (and I know they do have some great guys) but I think for Conor to challenge Aldo he needs the training he can only get with a top class team

I guess rich is relative to what he had before.
Having ray ban sunglasses and a suit for every day of the week (7 suits!) is not that unusual for most people but if you didn't have it before I suppose maybe you feel rich. I'm not sure if he thinks he will win a bonus every fight but the pay at his level (without bonuses) is pretty miserable so all this talk about being rich is a little silly.
The lads on newstalk were saying after he left that they hoped he was as rich as he was making out! They thought he was on the mega backs you would get in boxing the way he was going on!

I hope I'm wrong but I have a feeling that this documentary is going to give mma
    a bad reputation in Ireland.
There are so many kids looking to take up mma these days and their parents very dubious about it so they would take a keen interest in the documentary.
    And what do they see?
This brash guy, cursing at every opportunity, choking documentary crew unconscious and laughing about it or as a lot of the Americans call him, the Irish Nick Diaz.
The first thing these kids are taught is to never even attempt to choke somebody, not to mention to fully choke them out, unless you are in a very threatening situation and what will we see McGregor doing on RTE? A then laughing about it.
For any parents sitting on the fence about allowing their kids to take part in mma I think it certainly won't help.

I think its safe to say that you can rest at ease, for your hope will not be disappointed...you most definitely will be wrong. Conor is an unbelievably likeable character, nearly every time he makes any sort of media appearance, be it television, radio, internet show, the response is overwhelmingly positive. I know its a real cliché at this stage to say Ireland are a "nation of begrudgers" but anyone who is trying to put a negative spin on the attention Conor is bringing to MMA in Ireland falls into that cliché all too well.

I think people were (still inaccurately in my opinion) comparing Conor to The Diaz Brothers for his unorthodox striking style...if it is for personality reasons those people must have serious social skills deficits, because it is clear to see that Conor and the Diaz brothers are polar opposites in terms of personality! The Diaz brothers are shy, relatively inarticulate (not bashing, just being honest) and have serious chips on their shoulders. Conor is full of positive energy, a brilliant talker and as outgoing a person as you could find. He thrives in the media attention whereas the Diaz brothers fight against it (while still wanting the money of more media-friendly fighters).

I have no doubt that the more Conor is given media exposure, the better it will be for the promotion of the sport in Ireland.

***I do not know Conor personally at all, this is all just based on my perception of him in the media***

sick of people expecting Conor and other sportspeople to be goody two shoes GSP-like androgynous college grad polite paragons of role models. Get real.
The guy is an MMA fighter in the feckin UFC - you don't get to be one of those without being a bit of an animal, tough as fukin nails and with the confidence to take on the world!
McGregor has an unapologetic winner takes all mentality and a rare take-it-or-leave-it approach to the media that we so often look down on in Ireland. We expect everyone to be Brian O'Driscoll i.e. middle class perfectly behaved articulate college grad type but our standard for what is the right way to act in the media spotlight is all fuked up - people should be who they are. Conor talks a big game coz he has a big dream and he's livin it right now, he throws shapes coz he's a shaper and is full of fightin talk coz guess what? he's a fighter and possibly a great one at that. The vast majority of people who have been exposed to him have a massively positive reaction because his self belief is infectious and his happiness to be doing what he's doing is all anyone needs to want to get into MMA. He's bigging up Irish boxing and Irish martial arts in general and he seems generally interested in inspiring people in what he says and does constantly talking about work ethic and belief every time he's in front of a camera and best of all he doesn't lie about the money and the new experience of having things he never had. Ray Bans and suits and riding in Dana Whites Ferrari down Vegas strip is dream stuff for him and an awful lot of people - he just speaks for himself and leads, for some, by example and if he rubs you the wrong way so what... he doesn't care, nor should anyone because his actions and his belief in himself will inspire a lot more people than his 'bad language' will ever offend.

Care to elaborate instead of making smart arse comments? I explained why I think they are polar opposites, but you conveniently decided to leave that out of the quote...what's your opinion on the matter?

They are certainly not comparing him to the Diaz brothers because of his style!!
Its the "wrong side of the tracks" thing, his constant cursing, brash attitude etc etc

I fully agree that he is much more articulate than the Diaz's but then again that wouldn't be hard.

Not sure about that based on what he was saying about that documentary and the way he was talking to Helwani

It's getting a bit ridiculous with Conor's fans turning him into a sacred cow and basically scrambling to make excuses for the smallest criticisms.

what, being polite and humble and not swearing?
    wouldn't call that fu*ked up.

McGregor himself claims to be willing to improve the image of mma in Ireland.
Unfortunately he is the type of person who people associate "cage fighting" with.

He seems to be getting away with the arrogance and cockiness for the time being but this will wear thin.
Look at John Jones, everyone loved him initially but they soon realised that he was too cocky and not very humble which are not very likable traits.

I find some of the stuff on here absolutely comical and I think anyone who has been following the sport in Ireland for a long time will agree. People saying he's the wrong image for the sport etc. etc. really need to realize that Conor McGregor is hugely responsible for the sport being as big as it is in this country today. I've talked to Conor about how it used to be the same 4 or 5 people interviewing him before/after every fight and now everyone from mainstream media wants to talk to him. He was on the third most viewed Late Late Show episode of the year. So everyone saying Conor is the wrong guy to carry the sport forward obviously hasn't been around too long and is completely blind to all he has already done for the sport here.

I'm not saying Conor is the sole reason at all; there are hundreds of unsung heros who are responsible for the sport's success here at the minute. I'm just saying he is the current face of Irish MMA and a face I think we should all be proud of.
