Can't imagine being his parent and looking at him tonight knowing he won't be here soon. Would love to hug my son right now(he would not appreciate it tho:p)

It's a lot more complex than that. Using the word "wrong" is something that we're trying to get away from.

But it is wrong. Such acceptance and normalising of suicide is abhorrant.

That was great stuff from Brendan.. He's really giving Tubridy a lesson over the last few weeks.. That interview was like the sort of stuff that LLS built it's reputation on ..

I havent seen that kit kat ad in years. Nestle must be well broke.

But it is wrong. Such namby pamby acceptance of suicide is abhorrant.

It's not accepted. The idea is to raise awareness in a non-judgmental fashion so that people seek help before taking their own lives. His comments tonight, although well intended, probably won't do any good.

The idea that someone that is seriously depressed and suicidal will reconsider taking their own lives because "they should be grateful to be alive" is nonsense.

How can anyone say that lad is naive..

He said that there is help out there for every which is true, he also said it is a permanent solution to a temporary problem, plus he was mainly talking about young people. Excellent points

Absolutely brilliant and the best guest iv seen on a chat show in a long time.

Beats some actor/singe trying to promote a book/DVD etc

So being PC is your priority while Donal, who has weeks to live just cuts through the BS and calls it as it is.

Putting a kid on a TV show that is not watched by kids is unlikely to benefit anyone but the TV show.

    Good Evening All,

I didn't have the heart to watch Donal's interview but from reading the thread he seems to be very brave and accepting of his situation. I really feel for him and his family.

when anyone on radio or TV mentions Ireland's new 'Head Coach', I always visualize Dr Melfhi of The Sopranos! :D

I recall it not going down well with the boys in blue.

He commented that he wasn't judging mental illness. But maybe he can reach some poor teenager who thinks their life is over because someone doesn't fancy them or someone has broken up with them and they think they can't live without them. Have experience of one person who did take their own life and others who attempted/contemplated but have since gone on to have very happy, productive lives. Maybe these are the ones he can reach.

There was also the one of the devil and the angel taking their tea break. Another classic, I'd completely forgotten the panda one till it came on the other night

Hopefully they can set up a local Cork TV channel and leave the rest of us in peace and tranquility.
