the kid got 10 years in jail
should be longer sentence if ya ask me, but then again he was a kid , but i dont think the victim "in this case" has the right to have him paralysed after spending so many years in jail

Do you have a link for this? Anything I can find says or implies that the prison sentence is still ongoing. He's still in jail now, even.

Irish people have lost their back bone and anything said against non whites is racist, it wasn't so long ago we boycotted south African goods during apartheid I don't why we shouldn't do the same for Saudi Arabia and sharia Law.
Easy solution so. Stop driving your car. And taking the bus. And flying anywhere. And using anything made of plastic. The only thing you can boycott is oil. Saudi Arabia has produced nothing but oil and human rights atrocities for over 100 years. Before that, not even oil.

Oh, except for gum arabic. The Bin Laden family are major producers. You'll have to give up Coca Cola too. Can't make Coke without gum arabic.

It's a good idea in theory and it did have some effect regarding South Africa. Saudi Arabia doesn't export much except oil though so they know as long as they hold that ace they can get away with pretty much anything.

Another messed up thing about this situation which nobody seems to have really mentioned is the fact that he could escape being paralysed if he was able to pay the victim £250,000 in compensation. But since he's poor, he'll end up being paralysed.

I really hope we come up with more alternatives to oil soon, so we can stop supporting these backwards regimes.

    No rape in Saudi. lol.

Well obviously. They have laws to protect men from their own lust so how could it possibly happen?

Just look at the evidence; no convictions for rape in Saudi Arabia so there must be no rape.

Plenty of convictions for fallen women who did not fight off adultery strongly enough though so you can see they take their criminal investigations seriously over there.

I think you need four male witnesses to rape for it to actually be rape. Women can't be trusted to get these things right you know.

And then the rapist can compensate the father of the victim for devaluing his asset, who is of course unmarryable afterwards. I think they can avoid prison by doing this, but I'm not sure.

Of course they can usually avoid any unpleasant consequences by claiming she flashed an ankle or some hair or something. Tempting men to sin is a serious thing. It's hard to know who the victim is sometimes with that sort of loose stuff going on.;)

Men have it tough out there alright. Trying to go about your business being bombarded by temptresses. Where's Amnesty International while all this is going on?

you can live a perfectly full life while disabled

Yeah, I'm sure it's a doddle in Saudi Arabia, sure everywhere has wheelchair ramps and accessibility measures in place

You don't think spending ages 14 to at least 24 in a Saudi prison where conditions are unimaginably harsher than here, is much punishment?

For paralyzing someone? No I don't think it's enough

An eye for an eye comes to mind but I have to disagree with this...

    Hey, you missed my questions!

How many punishments do you think are fair and how many times in his life should he be repunished for the same crime?

But the man the stupid kid paralysed has a long horrible life ahead of him. Maybe paralasys isnt a good form of punishment but he does still need to be punished, no matter what age he committed the crime at. Jamie Bolgers killers were very young when they committed his murder and theyre still being punished a long time later

The boys who murdered Jamie Bulger were imprisoned from 1993 until 2001.
They were then released on a life-long licence.

I read the evidence transcript of their trial. Suffice to say that the reports of the crime in the press, which were criticized by some as inflammatory, were actually quite restrained in terms of detail.
Details which I will never be able to forget.

One of those convicted was re-arrested in 2010 for violating the terms of his licence of release, ie; possession of child pornography.

Why don't people who don't want to the punishment go through help to raise the 1 million Riyals compensation and that will satisfy the Courts Judgement. Unless of course the Racists on this thread don't want to see a Muslim get a 1 million Riyals.

how can a guy of 24 who has been locked up for 10 years come up with nearly €300k though?

could he not be released for crime and let work but have to contribute a portion of his salary towards medical care for his victim. That would be tough but fair in my book and if the guy in genuine sorry for his crime and understands what he did, I say he would want to make a mends for what he did (and of course avoid being paralysed :D )
