Professional golfer. Just because to do what they do otherwise would cost hundreds of thousands of dollars per year but instead they get paid to do it.

    Definitely trying!!

There's two jobs I want to do.

I don't see how anyone could live with themselves without at least trying.

No job, but a lump sum to support myself while I become a vagabond and wander to contemplate and focus on what I want to achieve in life. Essentially, to achieve self understanding and self-sufficiency.

One of the many people who deals with planning permission in the local council. Or a councillor who dealt with rezoning. Lots of brown envelopes / free holidays to exotic spots during the boom. Lots of nice weekends away to 4 and 5 stay hotels down the country, paid by developers. Favours and gifts from friendly friends of friends.

Now lots of time to do nothing ( nobody or very few are designing or building anything now ), while enjoying a very large salary, while looking forward to a nice secure golden pension.

If you could choose and job, what would you choose?

For me, as childish as it sounds, I'd choose to be a professional sportsman in the NFL or something. The feeling of playing the game you love in front of (potentially) millions of people would be pretty unbeatable I think.

Realistically, I'd love to be a photojournalist. I think it would be a great job that would allow you to travel and see the world.

photojounalist is not all that great - and its a dying career (been doing it for 10-12 years).....and freelance work has almost dried up (for me anyway).... I've jumped from earning approx €90K in 2009 to approx €30K in 2010, approx €32K in 2011 and approx €30K in 2012 .... and I work a 6 day week (no extra money for bank holidays, sundays etc etc), I have to spend a minimum of 5-10K a year on work related stuff (equipment, insurance etc due to the fact I work so much the gear doesnt last)...so out of €30K, I'm left with very little to survive.

the job does have its perks, have met loads of celebs and travelled to lots of different countries, gained access to stadiums in countries like serbia, sweden, switzerland, holland ...just because I wanted to photo a game of ball !!

as regards travel ... travel photographers get paid very little because of the wealth of images available online....anyone with a camera can take a pic these days.

Give it a fúcking rest. We have a thread here that hasn't been done in a while, and in you fúcking swan, bitching.

Yes, we know the country is fúcked. Yes, people fúcked up. But bitching about it every fúcking second, in every fúcking thread that comes up in AH gets fúcking monotonous. Fúck sake.

I would love to own my own little coffee shop, selling homemade cakes and pastries, combined with selling 2nd hand books.... Have looked into it but would just never be able to get the money together to start up. One can dream.

wouldn't mind being a DART or Irish Rail driver, shame they're probably the only sector of Irish society more endogenous than another that I'd get into trouble mentioning...;)
