Some extremely light snow here earlier. Nothing like what's happening up the country.

A definite and significant drop in shower intensity. Both on radar and on the ground here.

Dublin 3. Though it looks like the showers have lost their punch most everywhere by the weaker radar echoes

showers much more frequent here past hour, had 3 dustings all melted of course. If this was January we would propably have a nice covering by now:)

Looks to me like the showers are starting to die out as they make landfall ?

    :-(

Hopefully more kick in behind and build a bit.

The 13:10 radar shows more intense convection building south of the IOM:D

The dynamics of shower formation in the Irish Sea seem complex as borne out by how poorly modelled they always are. Forecast nightmare. See the way they blew up in intensity today, now are fading in intensity? What caused that? Will they intensify again? When and why?

Lots of heavy snow showers for the last few hours here in Leixlip and for a while looked like it was sticking but all melting on contact now. What's the reason for this? Are surfaces warmed slightly when the sun tries to peek out or is the wind a factor?

About to start snowing pretty heavy again, Killiney has disappeared :pac:

I fear that if we get something decent in the next week or so expectations will be set too high for future years. Remember how from 2010 forwards the stressful model watching started in November whereas before no one really started watching in earnest till January and gave up in early March because that had been the 'Window' for donkeys years. The November 2010 snow raised expectations and increased the 'window' by nearly 2 months. Similarily, if we get something decent March/April 2013, then going forward, no longer will we raise our eyes sceptically to heaven when someone says, "Don't worry lads, the window doesn't close till the end of March". Instead we'll still hold out hope till mid April, adding another month or two to the Snow 'Window'.

I simply can't take 6 months of stressful model watching going forward!!! :D

Why is that as the showers get heavier the snow disappears and it turns to grauple? Heavy grauple here now, no snow.

It was lashing snow for a good 45 mins in D13 at around 10-10:45. It's beginning to pick up again, not sticking. Not that cold either

The sun is as intense today as Sept 16th. This might explain some melt.

Greenhouse in the garden is the warmest its been in a week now the sun is finally coming out. Real power in the sun, would really need to stay overcast with persistent moderate snow for any decent settling during daylight hours at this time of year probably.

Have a weather station?, why not join the Ireland Weather Network - http://irelandweather.eu/

Allegedly supposed to stick around overnight, this is the Irish weather though, anything can happen.
