Has anyone received there letter from Setanta yet?
    Hi.

Nope not yet - I'd say we'll see that in the next week or two though.

It's a shame to see ESPN go I think they had the right balance between their channels. I had Setanta once before and will never go back no matter what they sport get! they are useless and damn hard to cancel (you can cancel but they still take your money).

I reckon UPC will keep ESPN anyway as part of the package or else maybe charge less? Is that even possible? €15 a month?

While we wait for the Premier League to announce its TV fixtures (which is now likely to be tomorrow, it seems), there were a few titbits regarding BT Sport's schedule released today. Firstly, Premiership Rugby's fixture list is out, and it seems for the first third of the season at least, BT Sport's games will be Fridays 7:45pm, Sundays 2:00pm, and Saturdays mostly 3:15pm (exemptions for the London Double Header on the first day of the season, and one Saturday where a game is being played at 5:30pm).

Also the SPFL has released its TV fixtures, with top-flight (former SPL) and third-tier (former Second Division - they still don't have names, though according to some sources they will be called "the Scottish Premiership" and "Scottish League 1"). BT's kick offs are in a variety of times, with fixtures on Friday 7:45, Saturday 12:30pm, and Saturday 5:30pm). These will clash with other events they have, so it may be BT Sport 2 for these.

So that's BT Sport's schedule starting to take shape...

There is a half price for 1st months and half price connection fee on their website

    https://secure.setantasubs.com/

But I am guessing they simply havent updated it yet?

    Does anyone know...

    It's updated now.
Monthly package - 2 months at €12.99* per month with free connection.
*No annual contract. 30 days’ notice of cancellation required. Service billed at €12.99 per month for the first two months & €19.99 per month thereafter. Fixtures subject to change.

There doesn't seem to be any mention of an annual deal?

So if that's their best offer I'm in all likelihood out. Would like them to confirm what's going to be on ESPN, and if they will be bringing back Sports Center and Nfl Countdown. Was tempted by the talk of €199 or a year.

    Doubt you'd see NFL Countdown

I will be subscribing to the setanta sports pack as usual through UEFA's website for legal streaming of a few live champions league games for 2.99euros per game

No option to pay per annum online. NOT subscribing until this option is in place.

Would be worth it for Sports Centre alone !

    The option is there now:
    Annual package
Subscribe for the year and you'll get 2 months free*, a saving of €39.98 against a monthly subscription!! What’s more, there's no connection fee, that’s another €14.99 saving!

Mmmm - the only big games I'm spotting are:

    Spurs V Chelsea
    Spurs V United
    Everton V Liverpool

I'm a United fan (who are on 6 times) - still not enough to entice me to subscribe! 3pm Saturday is not a great time to watch a game for me either.

The big hitters are still on Sky but they are very scattered.
I may well not subscribe to either!

not much there to entice you to spend 20 euro with Setanta. it might be worth the extra 3 euro if you are already paying 16.95 a month though.. I note they are all on Skysports1 this year so the option of downgrading to only skysports 1 will attract some only interested in soccer as last year the saturday matches were on SS2.

Anyone know if there's a minimum contract with Setanta's €19.99 monthly package?

  • Registered Users Posts: 300 ✭✭pricewise987

Can I get Setanta Sports for just one month?

We offer our customers a minimum subscription term of two months and we won’t tie you in to a contract for a year. You may cancel your subscription any time after the first ten days of your initial subscription by providing us with 30 days notice which will take effect 30 days after your next billing date.

Is multi-room included in the Setanta prices?

When I had it before it was only one subscription per box.

I think I read its €1.49 for 1 extra box and its a wee bit more than that for 2 additional boxes

    Cheers.

The whole package seems a bit expensive (as usual)

God, no. I think its great value to be honest albeit Setanta wouldnt just be on my Xmas card list given the way the run things. Compare it to Sky where you have to take out a min. subscription of €27 a month and then add €35 for the sports and you end up paying €62 a month.

All in all I think the €19.99 is decent value
