I know this isn't really my "territory" but I'm just wondering as you're doing DCG, is it a subject that you would recommend? I am currently doing Technical Graphics at Junior Cert and I am quite good at it, with 95% in my mock exam. Would you recommend that for Leaving Cert choices next year I go for DCG?

I'd defo go with DCG next year. I was always good at it. Got 99% in JC mock, got an A in the JC and I'm now finding it easy enough as subjects go.

The project is worth 40% though and is a totally different kettle of fish. Just make sure to put constant effort into it because it can take a looooot of after school time. For the final 2 weeks of it for example, I spent on average 4 hours a night on the portfolio and outputs (Left too much work to the end). Had it marked by my teacher and another DCG from another school that I know and both gave me 150+/160 so it's a nice thing to have before you even go near the actual written test.

If you go on and do DCG, give me a shout and I can give you a bit of help on your project if you're very stuck. (I mean advice of course before any people say it's "Illegal" or something silly like that :p )

My school is literally the slowest at giving us back out mocks!
    Maths B3
    Geography B1
    Business A2
    French C1 :(

all higher level, so 345 points with 4 subjects. I need 400 points for my course but want 500.

I'm so annoyed. My mocks only finished this week, so I don't think I'll have my results for another 2-3 weeks. But wow, some people are seriously intelligent. I'm expecting around 400 points, hopefully.

    Irish - 98%
    Spanish - 98%
    History - 95%

Unfortunately for me, I was actually joking. I'm not going to get anywhere close to that, I'll be lucky to get 525. Meh, still a few months left. :P

Oh my God I am done reading this thread.

Most people probably will stick their results up in their respective study logs! :P

I got 575, which is down 20 from my last set of tests but still, if I repeated that for the Leaving Cert I'd be more than happy.
    I got
    Maths 92%
    English 89%
    Irish 83% :(
    French 85%
    Physics 86%
    Chemistry 92%
    DCG 89% :(

Leaves me with a grand total of 585 points (or 580) including bonus points.

I can still improve here and there though, I'd love to get DCG an Physics into A1's and Irish into any A!
    As I stand...
    English-83% :/
Irish- 92% but waiting for p2 to be corrected
    Maths-92%
    French-88% (frustrated by this one!)
    Biology-97% :D
    Chemistry-90%
    History-90%

So I'm on 615 with bonus points provided my Irish doesn't drop when I get P2 back! :S

Really happy but still lots to do!!

You say this as if 525 is bad! Blegh. I thought everyone was supposed to do ****e in the mocks? No? Just me then.

I have yet to get a single exam back and all of the teachers are continuing to pretend that they are still being corrected, when really they're hiding in the bottom of some dusty locker somewhere in the school. I'm not exactly eager to get them back though. Can't say I put much effort into the auld study. :P

Ah, over three months left before the actual thing...Sher, tis grand.

Well I'm gonna bring some reality back to this thread and make everyone here feel a lot less stupid.

    Irish: D2 ol
    English: C2 hl
    Maths: D3 hl
    Physics: D2 hl
    Engineering: B1 hl
History: Not back expecting B2-A2 hl
Art: Not back expecting C2-B2 hl

    So around 420

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,171 ✭✭✭kevin12345

Still waiting on Irish, but here's what I've gotten back, all HL. Absolutely delighted. :)

    English: 88% A2
    Maths: 65% C1 :D
    Spanish: 82% B1
    Accounting: 62% C2
    Music: 81% B1
    Biology: 87% A2

So that's 510 points. Hoping for 475 so I have a bit of leeway. :)

    305 :D.

Hoping for anywhere around 400 in the real thing for A.C in DCU.

Some amazing results in this thread, anyone got any tips study wise?

Has anyone that does art gotten results? More importantly, does anyone feel they were marked extremely harsh? Was expecting a B1-A2 and got a C1 in my craft but hoping the history paper brings up my mark a bit. Examiner seems to be extremely harsh :/

In other news I got a D3 in HL maths and I'm soooo happy! Been failing up along and considering we hadn't everything covered I'm so happy! Still missed my first choice goal by a mile but I don't care :D

Snap failed nearly every test since fifth year and my teacher has been all but forcing me to drop. Now since I got 53% on paper2 he's telling me to stay up and concentrate on paper1 and that I'll do fine.

    Maths (HL): 72% - B3 - 100 points
    English (HL): 82% - B1 - 85 Points
    Irish (HL) : 81% - B1 - 85 Points
    Physics (HL): 31% - Fail
    Chemistry: 67% - C1 - 70 Points
    German: 77% - B2 - 80 Points
    Applied Maths 46% D2 - 50 Points

    470 points total.
Chemistry was shocking, I'm aiming for an A. Physics? Pfft ... Hoping for an A in applied maths too  Can bring them all up with hard work.

Ah jesus lads, way to suck the confidence out of me here :(

English (HL): 43% (timing issue, lost 110 marks because of it!)
Maths (HL): 24% (dropped down to OL)
    Irish (OL): 56%
    Geography (HL): 66%
    Biology (HL): 63%
    French (OL): 81% (:))

Need 300 points for business in Waterford, got 360.

Only studied 2 weeks before the mocks. Can relax again and study two weeks before the leaving cert :)

  • Registered Users Posts: 90 ✭✭jessiblah

I feel like an idiot now after reading this..

Anyways, everything is at higher level.

    English - 77%
    Irish - 55.5%
    Maths - 59%
    German - not back yet
    Chemistry - 53%
    Biology - not back yet
Business - 71%, but the teacher might be sending them back incase they were marked too easily

On the assumption that I got a D3 in Biology or German, I got 400 points. I need 540 for Medicinal Chemistry in Trinity though. :/

  • Registered Users Posts: 8 Misteree

440 for the mocks, looking to take all my Bs up to As, except maybe Spanish, the comprehensions are so unpredictable.

  • Registered Users Posts: 4,159 ✭✭✭yournerd

So far only got 75% in irish paper 1 which is a fail. and 54% in Biology which is another fail.

    When you say fail...?

  • Registered Users Posts: 90 ✭✭jessiblah

    When you say fail...?

My thoughts exactly! They probably were aiming for higher. Like I was aiming for a B2 in my Biology and there's no chance that I got that, so I'd feel a D is still a fail.

  • Registered Users Posts: 385 ✭✭Lawless2k12

    When you say fail...?

My guess is they mean it's an overall fail because they have not gotten the 2nd paper back yet in Irish... For the Biology part I could only guess that they wanted an honour and anything less is a fail?

    Bit confusing tbh...
