Good idea. But I'd have to buy one if them first.

Hmm not a bad idea, just use an old IBC cage. I wouldn't mind knocking up something for the back of the quad, all I need is a spare axle, weld on any sorta drawbar, a basic floor and fire the IBC ontop.

Friends brother is after making up one for there place. May get the dimensions off it. He has it on wheels but has loader brackets on it so you can use it to move calves around. Holds 5 or 6 calves I think

I'd just use the fencing trailer I have but its abit heavy in wet weather to be dragging it out in the fields. Big enough for 2 calves would be plenty, so the IBC is perfect.

Been meaning to make one for a while now. What I need it for is to move new borns from calving shed to calf shed in spring. I was thinking along the lines of the loader ideas aswell, but I was thinking of just hooks that the top pole of the shear grab could hook onto.( the cage would sit out in front of the grab) . So you wouldn't have to take off the grab every time you need to move a calf.

Only calved a month . Il keep her outta the tank anyway. I might sample her and try with whichever antibiotic is recommended. If that doesn't work, it's the hook. Fifth lactation

    California milk test.
Its a purple liquid. Ye take a squirt from each quarter onto a paddle. Put cmt liquid into milk and swirl it around. Which ever milk curdles like custard is infected.
Ye can get it in the local coop I'd say

Use washing up liquid, mixed with 4 parts of water instead, its cheaper. I'm sure ya could just use a cup or something instead of the cmt paddle if ya want to fine out asap which is the dodgy quarter.

Dettol all we ever used here but the paddle is handy. Got the proper fluid once used it but back to dettol again

Neighbour made one up, he made it big enough so you could work out of it as well, similar to the crates used on building sites for the loadalls, may be possible to pick one up handy enuv with things being quiet on the sites these days

At five million I reckon your fighting a loosening battle, and her being 7 years old. Would you try and sell her for sucking calves save yourself 50 quid on drugs and get rid of the risk of her spreading it

Get rid of her quick before she spreads it to others then you will be looking AT a huge problem! I know she be a nice cow etc etc but you got to look at the big picture

I had a 5 million cow on first recording last year. Milked her in last row for rest of year and treated with strong dry cow tubes. Recorded 57 last month.

Had one or two like that myself two years ago they weren't 5mil more like 2. Had a heifer this yr was 2 million. She's grand now. You would have to take the cows history into account but huge risk of it spreading unless u keep her last ( which is hassle )
