Good point. I guess a few might have moved early to get players like Fellaini before his price rise. I'm waiting until after the Chelsea game either way, Ba playing/not playing will make a difference in whether I even make a change this week or not.
I did this even though I knew that some fixtures were going to be a doubt. I momentarily forgot about it and just checked for a mid week Everton fixture.

There's plenty of snow forecasted for here in London on Saturday/Sunday.

Chelsea, Arsenal, Spurs and United all play in London on the Sunday!

    F**K, this could be bad!

I'm heading to London on business for the weekend, been told to expect heavy snow. Didn't even think of FF :(

It would be quite hilarious if those matches would be postponed. Whats your predictions will those matches be cancelled?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,383 ✭✭✭S.M.B.

Yeah, Saturday night/Sunday morning seems like the worry in London and Chelsea have already set a precedent by calling off a game with united where they feared for crowd safety not so long ago.

That would ravage 90% of teams though. It may be worth considering when picking a vice captain.

If Arsenal's game is called off the captaincy will be shifting fairly quickly in the direction of Suarez...

Assuming no postponements, which would you choose for Arsenal cover over the 2 games: Vermaelen, Mertesacker or Gibbs?

I'm guessing Mertesacker is most at risk of rotation so I'm leaning to one of the other 2.

Gibbs is more likely to get an assist (neither have scored in the league though i would put Tommy as more likely) but I think Vermaelen is nailed on to start both games. Gibbs might be due a rest but then again i'm guessing he won't play against Swansea.

Which would you choose? As I'm looking to stay ahead in my money league rather than look for a differential, is Gibbs the safer choice?

Sagna seems a good option too

    100% agree.

Is there any likelihood of announcement of cancellation of Saturday games after our deadline on Saturday morning?!

Memories of France - Ireland rugby match

Isn't Koscielny banned for at least a game? Should guarantee Mertesacker starting at least one game.

Agreed, prob won't pick up any big score as he is not great attacking but he has picked up 2 bp a couple of times

He is a little cheaper too i think

Mertesacker has been very dissapointing recently, he's been partially at fault for quite a few goals conceded, I'd imagine he's currently getting his arse kicked by Wenger hence his dropping at the weekend, still would reckon he'll be first choice in the long run unless they sign a replacement soon, I'm not a Gunner but I know a few who think a decent centre half should be high on the shopping list. In response to the question I think Sagna, Gibbs, Vermaelen and Mert are safe enough for the next few games.

i thought of this too but i assume the suspension will be for tomorrow night's fa cup replay with swansea and he'll be back in contention for the 2 premier league games.

I was at Old Trafford for the Liverpool game and only back last night. Funnily enough there were major weather warnings all weekend, and there continues to be for the Northeast.

This weekend could be carnage. If it's announced on Friday that a number of big games are off then it could be perfect for those still with the wildcard.

if a load of games are called off, it's when the game gets very difficult, random, and really put into the laps of the gods.

the amount of DGWs to navigate would make the game a complete minefield, and destroy a lot of people's meticulous preparation.

If this were the case, would people suggest using the WC for this week (could be short notice and hard to do in time) or save it, hoping the rearranged DGW will happen soon enough that you can plan for it with your January WC?

Podolski and Walcott in for Torres and Arteta

    5 players playing extra games

I think he's only banned for 1 game, the cup v Swansea, no?

Sorry should have clarified, Sagna is already in my team. I'm just looking to double up for DGW.

And price isn't an issue, I'm shipping out whoever i get in straight away.

Get Gibbs in then, most assists from defence this season and played every game while fit.

I'd go for Vermalen in that case, he's due a goal or two soon and he's a banker to play,

This from the dude MT that post in the weather forum.

FURTHER OUTLOOK ... Cold and dry is most likely to prevail over weak and isolated outbreaks of snow or sleet, then a milder turn late in the week. Some lows around -7 C to -10 C during the cold spell Wed-Thurs. Slowly warming up to near normal by end of the week but with risk of further snow or sleet especially in central and eastern regions. A major rain or snow storm is likely over the weekend, with snow heavy in some central and northern regions on Sunday. Details will emerge closer to the event, but at the moment it looks like being 3-5 C in the south with strong SE winds and heavy rain, but -2 to +1 C further north with heavy sleet or snow. France will be hit by strong westerly gales during this storm (80-130 km/hr winds possible).

Seems marginal. Could be a snow event or could be a rain event. If it's snow i'm glad i have my wildcard.

I had a very different view last week but seriously considering shipping out Gerrard and Suarez. Looking like Rogers is going to have both players playing deeper with the arrival of Sturridge.

    Suarez > Sturridge
    Gerrard > Bale??

That will leave me with 3m in the bank and sufficient ammo to cope with Dzeko getting hooked by Mancini.

Sturridge is a bit risky. Is he going to start games? I'd wait until then. But could be a good shout. He's greedy so if he sorts out his sharpness he should find the net a few times. Bale is pretty much a must have for me. He's coming back in on my WC end of the month.

Someone mentioned that Podolski will be on penno's for Arsenal this weekend, is this something that is certain. I'm gonna bring in an Arsenal midfielder but I have very little time for Walcott, his position gives him the edge over Santi for me but if either was likely to be on penno's it would make my mind up for me.

I just got him in. I don't think West Brom can afford not to play him at the moment.
