Iv got two Intel 330 Series 128GB SSD drives im going to put into a new build in a RAID config. I know it will be half the capacity of this drive but Im only going to be running the OS, Photoshop and two games off it so there will be plenty of space left.

Would I get better performance off the RAIDed HDs as apposed to this single drive?

    Cheers

Absolutely, if you use RAID0 on those, the the speeds will be phenomenal.

The only issue of course, RAID0 has no redundancy, so in the unlikely but possible event that one or both drives fails, that's the end of your data. If you're using an unusual Hardware RAID and the controller dies, it might also not be possible to restore on another PC.

If you back up your important files elsewhere though, you'll be fine.

I have a similar setup on my gaming PC (4 SSDs and growing :pac:) and 2x 1TB 10000 RPM barracuda kit in RAID1 for backups

That said, SSDs are fast enough as they are, so RAID speeds may not be noticeable in every situation. If you don't need the massive speed boost or are a bit wary of data loss, you can set up a Dynamic Disk in Windows, JBOD in Linux or your RAID controller :)

Yes my motherboard is SATA 3 compatible ASUS P8P67.

The Grey ports on that motherboard are SATA 3. There are only 2 ports though so you'll only get the SATA3 speeds there.
    Dcully wrote: »
Will i still be able to use both? and set up one as SATA3 and the other SATA2, or am i going about this the wrong way?

    Do you mean for RAID?
If so, you could use all the ports, SATA2 and SATA3 for Raid, but all the disks will run at SATA2 speed. (though its always best to RAID in the same controller set than on separate controllers and speeds)

It wasn't working for me either when I followed the link - I went to the hompage, clicked on Janurary deals, used the left right arrows to find it then clicked add to cart under the pic
I used parcel motel to get it faster lol :pac:
