Had a pretty nice commute myself this morning, no ice apart from the pedestrian bridge over the M2, took it handy enough there. Was even on track to my first sub 60 minute moving time until I got to O'Connell street and was forced to take a diversion due to someone colliding with a Luas....

The north county was lovely, peaceful, bright and fresh this afternoon during my lunchtime spin. 45 very enjoyable slow kms in the big ring!

Stocking Lane to Sally Gap was fine this morning but the road from there to Manor Kilbride was dodgy in places. I had a couple of those moments where you realise that you're going too fast but it's too late to do anything other than pray!

so you'll be on the trainer in 3 weeks-you'll be back fit in no time anyway. I can understand you needing to get it out of the system and to take a look around

Fog, but not ice, forced a cancellation of my commute home. My route is dark enough without worrying about fog as well (and I have 2 smart 1w and a moon jobbie on the back!)

Same here. Squeezed in an extra few Km's and Roads were grand with no frost showing up with my lights.

Did the usual 30km spin this morning and it was milder than it was yesterday. Wetter too.

It seems colder waiting for the box bus.

I was doing a few drills off road in the phoenix park last night and it was extremely foggy and the visibility was crap. It got very cold very quick around 8 I had to go home I was too cold. My rims were frosty too and I couldn't even brake. The grass was already frozen.

I do love the sound of frosty grass!

Had my first fall on ice this morning. Was at my turn around point on my morning spin before work and came off at the bottom of barnhill (I think...) near lucan. Everywhere else was fine, but that bit on the corner was an ice rink.

Was taking it easy on the hill in case, but was still going too quick. No damage to bike and some knocks and bruises so all good thankfully. Helmet saved my noggin a bang too so might get that replaced.

Well at least you didn't get hurt apart from some bruises.

Aaahhhh I know who you are! Coincidental that someone in my strava feed wih the same surname fell on a similar route this morning, or so I'm led to believe from the name of the ride, "Icy Spill".

My detective skills are beyond impressive!

Looked icy enough this morning, seen a few people sliding along the path outside my house, but once I was out on the road I had no trouble with traction. Even the pedestrian bridge over the M2 that's usually like an ice rink was fine....pity my legs were like lead following an interval session on the TT machine yesterday....

Bit of an Ice rink in patches around North County this am.
Had a lovely experience where a motorist tired to over take me while I was turning right (in the centre of the lane with an outstretched arm so no mistaking it). Fairly sure they'd just dropped their kids off at school as well, as thats where I was coming from....

Risk of snow over the weekend has been downgraded, but there's a persistent small risk on the east coast of sleet and snow for the next seven days. It'll be chilly if nothing else.

The MTB isn't necessary, but I think I might just take it out for the craic.

Ha, and someone on my strava feed with the same christian name had heavy legs this morning. You're not the only detective out there!!

Thinking something similar, albeit on the grotty hybrid. Maybe something like the back of Kilcullen back to Kilmashougue via Ticknock. Pretty short but could be good craic. Should still have a set of slightly knobblier 37mm marathons in the shed which would do the trick.
