Think you have to legislate for the lowest common denominator, lots of people out there in 1ltr bangers on sunny tyres. Would want them doing 200kph anywhere near me...not to mention our changeable weather,.,....

Can you agree to both? (above and below)?

    Yes I Can.

I was not having a go at you for owning your favourite stretch of road, I'm sure most people who post here have somewhere they let go a little and as you said so long as you have the road to your self then why not no victim no crime.

What I was having a go at was saying that you know what to expect, you never know what to expect no matter how well you know the road and to think anything else is dangerous.

I wouldn't regard the USA as a good example to follow in terms of road safety policy.

Interesting reading. Id be interested in looking up the reasons for this poor trend. I still feel that some tolerance is and should continue to be allowed if the conditions are deemed safe enough.

    Speed limits should be:

    Minimum for cars: 80
    Minimum for slow vehicles: 70

    Maximum cruising speed: 140
    Maximum overtaking speed: 150

    (km/h)

Would make the M50 a never ending car park.
Imagine trying to merge when some nob is cruising at 140 :D

Wouldn't apply to the M50 - that's an urban motorway.
