Nothing too severe being reported at any of the met stations on midnight reports. 3.6 mm at Newport with some 40 kt+ gusts in a few spots. These should get more interesting overnight.

Looks like one area is getting a bit more organised in Galway Bay with a bit of a line developing. Could move into Galway City in next while but not producing any sferics yet.

Met Eireann have changed from describing it as an 'active cold front' to an 'extremely active cold front'.

    Meteorological situation at 2100:

A gale force southerly flow continues to strengthen as an extremely active cold front with embedded line convection tracks southeastwards over Ireland tonight. A strong unstable southwesterly flow will follow over Ireland with a depression tracking to the southeast of Iceland.
