Any update on that order Dec? Ordered mine on 14th with 6-7 week delivery estimate.

Nope no update - still shows Jan 2nd, no hold on my credit card and no update on Google Wallet. Appears anyone who had the Jan 2nd change hasn't received their shipping emails yet though...from reading on XDA

Quick update on my Nexus 4 received a vat/duty bill from FedEx today saying I have to pony up an extra €87 for the phone, €75 for the phone €10 for some bull**** admin charge and then €2 vat on all that, *****!

I'm sure people here have had to go through stuff like this, the total of the phone was $392 which works out around €300 is the vat correct? Also I'd really not like to pay some poxy €10 admin fee, *****! What's my play here, any advice appreciated.

Delighted with the phone but more than likely going to cost me a lot more than it should :(

If you ordered it from America you have to pay Import Taxes and Charges on it which I'm assuming you did and that's what the extra charge is. Your only option is to pay the charges, its against the law not to.

Using this calculator the Import Charges are around €70, so I'd have to say everything is above board and you owe FedEx the €87 or you won't be getting your phone.

The €2 VAT on the admin fee sounds correct too if you are wondering, and its common to see these types of admin charges also.

If you ordered from within Europe then I'd query the charges further.

Just kinda stings a little, phone that should only cost €350 is now costing me over a €100 extra, more venting than anything else I suppose poxy admin fee. I got my phone the week before Christmas so to be hit with this now sucks.

Eh... no... You always have to pay the VAT. The phone shouldn't cost you €350... you just failed to calculate the charges associated with importing the device.

Its an oversight on your part.

    Totally agree with this.

Its all completely your own fault, I'm amazed you actually believed you didn't have to pay Tax on it. Also your maths is off, according to the figures you gave the phone is now costing you €390 which is only €40 not €100 more than the €350 you claim it should cost.

Also, I'd suggest not trying to avoid paying the tax otherwise Fedex will send a debt collection company after you.

And make sure you specify the correct currency when paying too! FedEx did a screw up with me a few years back when I paid tax on an item. They assumed it was in sterling, it got so far through their system before someone noticed and the payment was cancelled. Oh and they never told me which led to calls from the Debt collection company and weeks of sorting out.

Whats the best way to contact google about my order? I ordered on the 4th of December and was given a 4-5 week delivery date but 5 weeks has already past. I've had a look on the play store and google wallet but I can see any obvious was of contacting them about my order

I know how much I've paid for the phone in the end and it's the €40 you suggest so my maths aren't off, your assumption is erroneous. That admin charges sucks!!!

It is what it is, I'm happy with the phone it's a beast.

This post on xda-developers suggests it'll be another 3 weeks before any new shipments arrives :(. Hopefully it's wrong. I'll have all the money I'm keeping for it spent!

Shipping seems to have started again in the US, e.g. http://www.reddit.com/r/nexus4/comments/168qfd/ordered_dec_14_shipped_today_9th_jan/ so hopefully we are not too far behind. 3 weeks sounds crazy.

My 5 weeks will be Monday week. So I guess technically 3 weeks would still be within the delivery estimate. I was just hoping to get it earlier :D

Does anyone know if you can check your original estimate after you have ordered? Ordered on 10th Dec and think it was 7-8 weeks but can't be sure?

Check the original email you got with the receipt of your order. It gives your "Estimated Ship". I also ordered on the 10th and it's down as 6-7 weeks*

*I said 5 weeks in my above post. My mistake. I was right with the Monday week though.

I contacted google about my order that went in on the 4th, i was given a 4-5 week delivery date so it shouldve arrived already.
They got back to me saying there is a delay and my order wont arrive for another 3 weeks! I think i might just just cancel it at this stage

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 22 brevit

    That's pretty shocking Aidan.

    I'd leave a comment on Dan Cobley's G+ Page : https://plus.google.com/113390679691036376988/posts

To have the shipping estimate change like that is just not on. 4-5 weeks is a massive delay to begin with. now they want you to wait 7-8 weeks?

Log into your wallet account. At the top right there is a help button, click that then click help centre. A new window opens, then click the picture of the laptop, from there scroll down and click on "I have a problem with / question about an order I placed"

Is it easy to cancel your order? I just came across the Xperia Z and I'm tempted to spring for it. The fact that it's waterproof would be handy. It should be out in Feb so I'd probably have it before the Nexus 4 :)

Due in March and costs a whopping £528 but yeah looks like a stunning phone. Also expect more big phone announcements at mobile world congress around the end of February.

I'd have to go back on a contract to justify it but it looks to be a thing of beauty. I'd love to see more manufacturers going down the road of making their phones more robust. But I guess there's no real incentive for them to do it. Broken phone = more money for them.

There doesn't seem to be any threads about the Xperia Z. I might create one to keep track of the info coming out.

Nice one. I thought I saw some posts on xda-developers saying it was difficult to cancel orders. It might have been in the US or for orders that had progressed further or something though. Wasn't paying much attention at the time. I think I'll let mine run for now. Looks like I've plenty of time to change my mind :D

God above lads this phone will be out dated by the time some of ye are going to get it. Such a pity.

That looks like it would be cheaper to buy from one of the European outlets mentioned above like Amazon.de etc. Or else beg/threaten/kiss-ass someone who's travelling to the states. Or start the charm offensive at that distant-relative in the US that you haven't spoken to in a few years.. etc etc.

Can you change keyboard settings if you order from UK or US?

It's GB£110 more but it's available SIM free on CPW.co.uk. WhyTF the Irish CPW can't stock it is frustrating but if you really want the phone, it's there.
