Met my OH almost 6 years ago at a BBQ he invited my then boyfriend to
I tagged along to be introduced to this large group of grungy metal heads (I was into that at the time, because of course, that's what my boyfriend liked :o )
After six years of simply chatting and meeting for coffee to talk about our love lives - him telling me I should give all my current asses of boyfriends another chance because it would be a shame to lose me, and me telling him, quite blatently, to dump every single one of his current girlfriends because he deserves better (better being me), I invited him up to mine to meet my foster cat and her newborn kittens, deviously tricked him into having a drink so he couldn't drive home, and then casually reminded him I live in a one-bedroom flat. ..
Now, we're engaged, with a wedding planned for September 2014 :D

It's like online dating but you have all the platonic rapport without the pressure of peacocking.

    Peawhatting?!

    Peawhatting?!

Peacocking, showing off to potential mates, courting, etc.

Is that a euphemism perhaps? ;)

Im told its all about the plumage

Yep, that's why male peacocks have amazing feathers and peahens are boring little things. In the bird world it's the men that look pretty and show off to get a girl, but what with humans not having feathers (I should hope not anyway) it's just down to showing off, looking good, impressing someone :)

POF. I really didn't like him in person. He was much nicer in text. But he ploughed on and here we are 1 1/2 years later.

Met my boyfriend the summer before our first year in college. Being friendly acquaintances, having lots of mutual friends, and going to the same college that September, we decided to live together, along with one of our mutual friends. We began sitting up talking every night, long after our other roommates had gone to bed, and he soon became one of my best friends. Not long later I started noticing serious chemistry between us, and after about 2 months of "moments" between us, I plucked up the courage (after several vodkas) to tell him. Few days later we sat up all night talking about whether or not we should do anything about it, and finally decided to just go for it! We had our first kiss the next day, and over 2 years on I still get butterflies :D

I worked in the local spar and he used to come in and talk to me. One day he slipped me his number. We went out for about 3 months before he broke up with me. Had zero contact until 2 years later when he found me on facebook and messaged me to apologise. He ended up winning me back and it was out 3 year anniversary last week :)

Pof. Signed up to see what all the fuss was about, got talking to this guy within the first two days of being on there, met for coffee the following week and apart from a minor blip at the start, its been loved up ever since. Told him in my sleep about a month or so in that I loved him, according to him, so he said it about a month after that... five months in now :) He is wonderful!

I was out drinking with my friends on a Tuesday night, we ended up in Coppers and when I bought my first drink one of the barmen caught my eye. Each time I went up to get a drink he would rush over and try to serve me and at the end of the night he was counting the money and I decided to go over and say hello.

We ended up going back to mine and watching the US election until 6 in the morning. We met a couple of nights later and then the following week he asked me out on a proper date. We have spent all our free together since the beginning of November and we are pretty loved up now.

But I really can't believe I met my boyfriend in Coppers.

A Boards Beers (so technically not *on* Boards :p), around this time last year actually :)

He had only heard about it the night before, and I'm pretty shy so I almost didn't go! Thank goodness I did :o Chatted for most of the night, then went on our first date the next day - to see The Muppets! :D

In a bar, through a friend of a friend! Fairly standard really! I ended up really sick (gross chesty cough, yuck!) after we first met so it was over two weeks before we got a proper date. It all worked out though, coming up on two years :D

Through friends, his friend from college was going out with my friend from college. He had to do a little bit of chasing (apparently I almost went in the "too hard basket"), I wasn't interested for quite a bit.

Glad I gave in in the end! Got married last summer after 6 years together and have a baby on the way. We've had a tough few months and I can definitely say I landed on my feet with him :)

    Plenty of fish!!

I had had a brief fling with a guy, wasn't really bothered about meeting anyone but one night I went on and saw the other guy was back online so I thought why not! I started talking to my bf first, after a week or so we met up, went out for 6 weeks until he broke up with me. I stalked him for 7 months and eventually wore him down! We are together now 7 months and we couldn't be happier. He's a wonderful guy, I never thought I would meet a guy like him who wouldn't just love me but my two kids as well :D

In second year of secondary school, he was put into my class. We only chatted in school, never socialised outside until college. I was in complete denial about my feelings for him around second year of college because he had become such a good friend and I didn't want to ruin it. We finally got together just a couple of weeks before our third year of college (we were in different colleges). Four and half years and still going strong :)

College, first year. I came from abroad and was wearing a long leather jacket (matrix!!!!) so naturally he thought I was the absolute coolest thing since sliced bread. We were studying a poem and years later named our daughter after the lead female character. We've been together 13 years!

In primary school, friends for years, only got together when I turned 20. Had a baby girl 2 years ago and bought our home last year :) 6 years together and getting married next year.

Met him at a gig on a beach in Dubai 3 months after I emigrated to the UAE. I randomly sat down on a sand dune, pizza slice in my hand, then noticed the cute tall dark and handsome guy sitting to my right. Started speaking Irish to my South African friend to tell her I thought he was gorgeous then realised she didn't have a clue what I was saying so blurted it out in front of him!
Fell madly in love and 2 years later we're happily married and expecting our first baby next month :)

I was in the shop he worked in and he was in the office, he spotted me on camera and asked the guy he was talking to did he know who I was, the guy happened to be my neighbour so he told him my name etc and it all happened from there, that was 3 years ago and now we have a beautiful baby boy.:)

Met him 3 years ago in work, we had a massive 'connection' if you will, but I refused to take it any further because I had a thing about dating people I worked with, absolutely was not going to happen!
In the end I couldn't not be with him any longer and it will be our 1 year anniversary on paddys day! Looking back I'm so happy I took the risk, we kept it quiet for the first 6 months but we kept bumping in to people when out and about so they all now know! Best decision I ever made was giving it a go and now I'm a very happy lady indeed!

Surprisingly few people actually met their OH at work. That's where I met mine - we used to eat lunch together if we were on the same shift, nothing major. Used to see him around college every now and then, stop for a chat, the usual.

Fast forward a year and Rozabeez started bringing me along when he would give her a lift home from college or work. Started chatting and three and a half years later we're still going strong.
