These are the rates - the ones for more are for those living futrher away

    Special rate €5,915 €2,375
    Full Maintenance €3,025 €1,215
    Part maintenance (75%) €2,270 €910
    Part maintenance (50%) €1,515 €605
    Part maintenance (25%) €755 €305

What is the income threshold for the special rate of grant? I live under 45km from the college.

It was so much easier to blame it on Them. It was bleakly depressing to think that They were Us. If it was Them, then nothing was anyone's fault. If it was us, what did that make Me? After all, I'm one of Us. I must be. I've certainly never thought of myself as one of Them. No one ever thinks of themselves as one of Them. We're always one of Us. It's Them that do the bad things.

It is ****ing rediculous, both me and my girlfriend moved up to Limerick for college and we are both just barely getting by on rent and food. We both appplied in july and have heard nothing back about our status after sending in all our forms, its a ****ing joke and our college expects payment by the end of october, so i have no idea what we are going to do

Article in today's Examiner about SUSI and progress so far. Extra staff have been taken on to deal with the backlog. I hope this is sorted for all students soon as it is a sorry state of affairs that only 700 approx. students have been paid out of a total of 65,000 applications. The grant is vital for students goint to college, it could be the difference between paying the rent this week or going hungry.

Sent in my documentation mid July and have to send them again next week when I receive the documentation pack because they 'can't find' the one I sent in July.

Absolute joke, really after pissing me off! And to make it worse, they wouldn't have bothered letting me know if I hadn't of kept ringing them!

Are local count VEC grants likely to be much different from SUSI grants, in the way they chose eligibility. My sister was awarded a 100% maintenance grant from VEC and I was awarded a 50% maintanence grant from SUSI, why would they be so different?

it depends on your income.. if you work yourself that could affect it and it depends on what college you both go to.. your sisters might be further away from the one you go to

Thanks for the reply but neither of us are working, and it is my college that is further away, so I should be getting the higher rate which I am but she is 2 brackets above me at 100% maintenance.

I would recommend that you appeal your susi grant then.

I got the email confirmation last Monday and was paid on Friday without any further communication from SUSI so I guess you're supposed to just keep checking the bank balances :/

I uploaded my bank accound details and got no confirmation email, that was two weeks ago :( I rang susi today for the third time and he said I just get an email soon enough but when I told him I had uploaded my bank account details two weeks ago, he said they would look into it and let me know as soon as possible.

This actually doesn't make sense. I think you should appeal it.

Guys, SUSI have taken all my documentation and requested a final course acceptance form. I was wondering does this mean I got my fees paid for?
My dad earns 45,000 a year mam is unemployed and I live one dependent sibling.
My college is 40minutes away from me

You've got something if they've gone that far with you.
Hang on another 2 weeks and you should have something in the post letting you know. If you check all the income levels you might be able to work out what your entitled to to give you an idea.

I got that far then received a letter asking me to resubmit all my documentation again, including my Birth cert and proof I am Irish. Assume they have lost all my documentation. Brilliant.

Just got told i have to re-submit all my documents aswel. This is a joke. They don't even let you know what you have to do next, you have to chase them to find out anything.

Best thing is they ask you to provide the documents in the provided envelope yet there is no envelope provided. My TDs office was very helpful but SUSI have just told them that the only thing I have sent is a final course acceptance form what a shambles of a system.

It really sounds like they are under pressure with all the student/politics/media on their back.

So, as a tactic they come up with the "please send this documentation in to us, because we never received it", complete and utter bull**** to lighten their current load at present as so as they can get back on track!
It has been done in other office environs and is been done right now to a lot of the students.

    ****ing BS!

Applied the first day...Still waiting to hear back saying I've been actually approved! I've send in documents + more documents that was asked and the final acceptance form. Hopefully I'll hear something this month. Might give it until the end of next week and then give them a ring for an update.

Seems like everyone is having hassles with this system! At this rate people will get their grants by next year!

I got a letter asking for a final course acceptance form and my mother's social welfare statement. The thing is that i sent a final course acceptance form in already and my mother does or did not get any social welfare.

Why are they asking for these anyone know?
