Is the Dave King fit and proper test still going on? Surely talented liars like the SFA aren't having that much trouble thinking up some sort of loophole or excuse in order to find a convicted tax criminal and member of the board that caused the whole mess to be "fit and proper" of having another crack at it?

They've requested information from Dave King according to Keith Jackson in the past few days, who seems to be stalling.

0-1 down at HT against QotS, hopeless defending for their goal.

Even if we go through today I can't see us beat Hibs and Motherwell over 2 legs each. This team is just so bad.

edit: Wallace who has done **** all so far comes to the rescue.

    1 down, 2 to go.

Gonna need a big improvement to get through.

Moshni has signed a pre-contract with ES Tunis apparently.

Could have been a good player for us if he kept his concentration up.

    Dave King is fit.

    Dave King is proper.

    He's passed the test.

So a Director of the oldco who was at the helm when the ship went down and was famously called a glib and shameless liar when convicted of 41 offences has been labelled 'fit and proper' by the Scottish footballing authorities.

    No real surprise there eh?

Step up and pay Mr King.

It's morbidly hilarious that one of the most twisted corrupt organisations in football are the ones administering the "fit and proper" test :pac:

Hopefully the right decision to announce King passing the fit and proper test will give everyone a boost for tomorrow, really need a good result from the first leg to take to Easter Road.

Reading the SFA statement, it is hard to understand how King passed but I am sure the SFA had their reasons, maybe King convinced them he had a twin brother and it was that twin who had the conviction and who was a director of Rangers when it went into administration and subsequently liquidation

'Following the submission of an amendment to its Official Return by Rangers Football Club, the Board of the Scottish FA has considered the Fit and Proper status of Mr Dave King as a director of the club in respect of Article 10.2 of the Articles of Association.

Mr King provided substantial information in relation to the matters set out at Article 10.2 (h) and 10.2 (j) namely:

    · He has been convicted within the last 10 years of (i) an offence liable to imprisonment of two years or over, (ii) corruption or (iii) fraud and;

    · He has been “a director of a club in membership of any National Association within the 5-year period preceding such club having undergone an insolvency event”.

In considering the request, the Board of the Scottish FA has sought and received specialist independent legal advice, both in Scotland and South Africa, in respect of Mr King’s conviction further to the South African Income Tax Act and in relation to his previous involvement as a Director of the club. It has also received significant documentation from relevant authorities both within the UK and South Africa.

The scale of this due diligence is unprecedented but befitting the complexities of the consideration placed before the Board. During this exercise both Mr King and the club were fully co-operative and responded to all questions put to them by the Scottish FA.

On the basis of this advice presented to it, and having considered all submissions received from Mr King and the club in respect of this matter, the Scottish FA Board granted an approval, conditional upon further submissions from Mr King in respect of documented agreements with the appropriate authorities in South Africa.

The Scottish FA can confirm it has now received this supplementary documentation in full and the Board is satisfied Mr King is Fit and Proper in terms of Article 10.2. '

Can you and the other Bears here confirm for us here and now that if, in a bizarre and unforeseen twist of fate, the convicted criminal who was on the board when your last club died happens to leave you in a hape, you will promise not to play the victim and blame everybody else including your pals in the SFA this time? Third time's a charm and all.

It's crystal clear actually, and is basically what I've been saying all along: Everyone involved in his legal issues in South Africa agrees that it's in the past and has been handled to a degree that satisfies everyone.

As for being on the board when the club went into administration, not sure how they handled that but maybe they agree with Rangers that this was outside his power, since Whyte basically went at it alone in deciding not to pay PAYE etc.

Or it could just be funny handshakes all around ;)

    A foregone conclusion really.

 FFS that is saying the conviction does not matter because the convicted person satisfied the sentence!

What tipped Rangers into liquidation was the big tax case and the risk that entailed and the fact that no buyer was willing to touch Rangers with a barge pole with that risk hanging over them. King was integrally involved in all that shenanigans

As expected. Sure The Rangers wouldn't be The Rangers without a tax cheat at the helm.

Dave King passing a fit & proper person's test given the convictions and all the evidence on record against him is an embarrassment for Scottish Football, shows gross incompetence borderlining on criminal negligence considering how low the bar is set and an insult to all fans of Scottish Football. I doubt Rangers fans would agree but they've shown in recent years that they couldnt give a fiddlers as long as they get what they want.

I'm looking forward to 12-18 months down the line, the revisionism from Rangers* fans when King has screwed them into the ground, and they are whinging about how a convicted tax cheat was able to pass the F&P person test.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,011 ✭✭✭Soups123

It is appalling that he passed the fit and proper requirement, surely they have to be called into question if the same problems repeat themselves.

Celtic fans are worried that king will bring Rangers back to the level of before otherwise they'd be delighted with his appointment!

Ha ha, is that the old 'For every £5 Celtic spend, we will will spend £10' line that got the previous club into such trouble

Ah Loking into the future does not suit you. You seem so sure I like forward to laughing at you about this on12-18 months. In fact I have marked it in my diary that means I can have a chuckle fairly regularly 😉

It doesn't? I remember telling my friend that CW would kill the club. That came true. I told him that Green was all talk. That came true. I'm 2/2 so far.

No I was referring to th challenging Celtic for the league, if he is as bad for Rangers as some make out them surely today is a good day for those people?

Talk of challenging Celtic for the league title is fantasy at the moment. There are a number of hurdles on and off the football park for Rangers to negotiate before they can even challenge anyone in the Premiership!

It's not about the league challenge, I still can't see Rangers* getting promoted. It's about the bending of the rules for one club. How someone with 42 convictions for tax evasion, who's been called a mendacious witness, who the judge said he wouldn't believe unless there was documentary evidence to back up his statements. Who has been called a "glib and Shameless liar" can be passed as fit and proper to run a club in Scotland.

What would he have to have done to have failed the F&P??
