Well if Iona does have constant access to inner Government circles, they're not working very well.

Well, in that case they should give the money back to all those people in U.S. who are helping to fund them as they are not very effective as a lobby group.

Never suggested you were. I asked for your thoughts on the state level involvement of the usual suspects (Catholic lobby groups) down through the years. Seems you haven't any.

As a Catholic I am proud of the part the Church has played in educating the nation, the tireless work advocating for justice for the poor and giving a voice to the Third World, the noble fight against abortion and most importantly the solace my faith has given me and guidance I have received from her Priests.

I have no clue, but would advise that if you are aware of any potential wrong doing by Iona that you report it to the relevant authorities.

But you are a donor and you trust them so surely you have some thoughts on it.

Don't you get a little note from them every year outlining all the good news, successful funding campaigns etc etc?

All the charity's I donate to make an effort to keep their donors up to date.

Maybe ask them directly? I have no problem declaring my contributions to Iona and trust them. If that trust wasn't there, no money would be donated.
