    Who poured scorn?

I think it is only fair that if one is going to go around casting aspersions on other people's funding that one is open and transparent about one's own.

So apart from yourself - who are the other contributors to Iona's coffers?
Why the secrecy if there is nothing to hide?

I have no idea the identity of other contributors, nor have I asked. I trust them. Is my trust to be fair game to your scorn?

    Who mentioned Catholicism?

    I didn't.

Your faux innocence is fooling no one.

Sadly this type of sarcastic attacks on people of Faith is part of the Liberal orthodoxy these days.

No one is attacking people of faith, they are attacking faith, there is a difference.

You are just desperate to be scorned. Why is that I wonder.

I am simply asking a perfectly valid, unscornful, question re: sources of funding and pondering, equally unscornfully, as to why there is such secrecy surrounding the funding of a group who are casting aspersions on other groups sources of funding.

You might take it on trust, me - I like to see audited accounts.

Liberal orthodoxy - isn't that an oxymoron?

See? You can post comments in a normal, respectful tone. Thank you.

There is no compunction on Iona to provide you with audited accounts, to my knowledge.

Then why make a big deal about the funding of other groups ?

And I am open to correction but I think that as a charity they are supposed to give some detail.

Yes it is in the main , But if the likes of David Quinn and Breda O'Brian throw their hats in the ring then they are fair game just like any other lobby group .

    Would you dis-agree ?

If you have evidence Iona are in contention with Revenue rules please provide it to the authorities.

The worrying part for me isn't the money from Feeney, but the proud claim from Glen that they act and lobby from within Government circles.

    Totally disagree.

The Liberal extremists have normalised the idea that a No voter on Friday is automatically a homophobic bigot.

I don't actually think that it is people of faith who are being attacked here. There is no referendum on Friday that I know of, asking the general population whether or not you should be allowed to practice your faith. You are not constantly confronted with posters, debates, and comments across every variety of media which say you should not be allowed to practice your faith, or that you shouldn't be allowed to parent because of your faith.

Breda O'Brien was on Matt Cooper earlier in a debate and she raised the issue of Atlantic Philantrophies funding the Yes campaign.

It was my understanding that the money from Atlantic went to GLEN and the last payment was 4 years ago. Nothing wrong with that either so long as Atlantic weren't funding the Yes campaign itself which to my knowledge they aren't - the fund itself is nearly at an end anyway.

The panel turned the question back at her regarding Iona - she didn't have any idea where the funding for Iona comes from, despite being a patron. I'll be charitable and take her at her word, but she really should do her homework. People in glass houses and all that.

I was referring to the sneering of another poster on this thread.

A sneering that has become acceptable and has been seen throughout this referendum campaign whereby people voting No are considered bead rattling bigots by some.

As a registered charity they should supply the charity commission with accounts yet appear to have neglected to do so.

As a registered company they are required to file end of years returns yet appear to have failed to do so.

All these questions about their funding would just go away if they were transparent but they appear to not wish to be...

    Why is that?

They get funding from me ad many other sources, especially in the US.

If you have evidence Iona are acting illegally, please stump it up. :)

    Sneering?

    Oh dear.

I do apologise if I appear to be sneering - I shall follow your example and restrict myself to condescending with a dollop of victimhood in future.

Is that right? Care to provide some links so we can all see? Or do we just have to keep speculating since the Iona funding is somewhat less than transparent...

Individuals and/or organisations who share admire Iona's work in Ireland I would assume.

If you go over my posts again you might see that my issue is with the Feeney funded organisation claiming with pride that they have internal and constant access to Government circles.

Do they have a senator in their pocket or something?

    Does Ronan know?
