Aoife Clark scored a magnificent 48.90 penalties in dressage phase of cross-country....great news for the team and will keep her well up the individual rankings also. Really positive result.

Has her in 7th place in the individual rankings

Same at the tennis. Centre court is empty and it was sold out so where everyone is I have no idea. They hinted on BBC gymnastics coverage that the more expensive seats were all taken by corporate types and the real fans were in the cheap seats at the top. Annoying that people would take tickets and then not bother going.

Claire Balding, for BBC, has since mentioned this twice during the swimming coverage. The paying spectators she says are up the back on level 2 where all the screaming for Team GB is coming from - you'll see them on certain camera angles, not main shots - athlete families on one side on level one, and rows of empty level one seats across from them.

(Another side note - you might have heard the first words out of John McEnroe last night to Lineker wanting to know why Team GB Track and Field weren't there, having expressed regret that he himself didn't go to The Olympics. It was agreed by Michael Johnson, who said they should have been flown in to attend, as he was in Atlanta, it being a home event and a once in a lifetime. You should be on the panel!!)

Any word of who the Irish athlete, at the centre of the betting story, is?

Some sort of messing going on with entry to Centre Court. Queues of people outside, taking forever to get them in. Possible that they didn't listen to the advice to get to events at least 2 hours before they were due to start.

For those of you, like me, who are without red button coverage, there is a website streaming all the European countries coverage of the Olympics. It's all perfectly legal as RTE were advertising it yesterday.

Can't guarantee what they will or won't be showing, but I did see horses on one of the channels earlier. EDIT: Equestrian dressage on stream #4 from 14:30

Nope, but the wording of it makes it seem like one of the individual sports. He/she placed bets on his/her opponent to win. Suggests only one opponent and exact knowledge of who opponent is.

John Joe Nevin is in the ring shortly against Denmark's Dennis Ceylan.

Fingers crossed that he gets our Boxers off to a good start.

Was 2nd for a lot of it, finished 3rd, but she was taking it fairly handy towards the end as the 4th place girl was well behind her.

Kieran Behan interview on RTE just before the boxing. He was crying. So sad :(

Also, apparently the problem with empty seats at Wimbledon was people who opted to collect their tickets on the day. It was a slow process for some reason and people didn't leave enough time to get them. 3 hour wait for some of them.

No real time scoring in the boxing? :(

John Joe wins 21-6. Solid start. Good for him to have a relatively handy first bout. He boxed well.

That proves nothing, he could be flat out on his back and according to Magee he would still be a class above his opponent :pac:

Vinokourov who won Gold was banned for doping for two years in 2007.

    Shame to see cheats winning.

O'Neill fought well, but the Nigerian wasn't much competition to be fair.
