    Against contraception.

How does that work for married couples with kids who don't want more kids?

I may have had a few Beamish, but, am I missing something? Should they try abstinence or perhaps using 'the back door' would suffice?

One would expect the church to support the gheys, since they don't need birth control. :pac:

Furthermore, what the jaysus is religion doing lurking in a chemist? Medicine, religion. Is there some connection?

With the catholic church sex is for the purpose of procreation, so to be having it even within marriage and using contraception would be considered sinful. to add to that i have heard mention that abstinence within marriage itself could be considered sinful as nobody is making babies then.

I'm trying to keep a running tally of things youth defence and their members/leaders are against.

    And so far i have:

    Anti-Choice(no citation needed here)

    Homophobic
Homophobic naturally that includes marriage and proud about it

Against the HPV vaccine for school girls

Against IVF treatments they other publicans on this too.

Anti-Contraception : this had been pointed out the reading materiel they are offering to schools which exclusively promotes abstinence. They are not fond the pill

Anti-immigration or racist to an extent. Its member/spokesperson Justin barret(Also protested against legalization of Divorce) Admits attending and speaking at far-right neo-nazi meetings. While another long term member Micheal Quinn (a founding member of the DRM an anti-immigration irish white nationalist movement)was also seen at their most recent belfast rally. he even filmed himself

I need to know, is there anything im missing?

Whatever about YD say, you're the one with the problem - you certainly seem to hate them (which is blatantly obvious from your misrepresentations).

    Where are the misrepresentations?

You accuse YD of being "homophobic" (a fear of homosexuals), yet cite some "indymedia" and "broadsheet" articles - both heavily leftist in their editorial policies. You really ought to try harder if you're going to try to brand an organisation as being "homophobic".

There was a program on RTE about the old tenement houses in Dublin. They were swarming with children. Women were basically baby-making-machines. When the husband got home from work, it didn't matter if his wife wasn't in the humour for sex, he was getting it. The church said so. Ahhh, the good ol' days.

Because women had up to fifteen or so children, this meant that they also gave birth to two or three still born babies. There was no counselling back then. Just get on with it.

The program showed photos of the little white coffins.

The children lived in poverty, which was exacerbated by the churches views on parenthood. I mean, if you're struggling to raise two or three children, what's it going to be like with twelve? You could say your prayers, but what's that going to achieve.

Best person to ask for answers on raising a family is a deluded celibate man.

What would you suggest for the inhabitants of tenemants? Condoms? (or perhaps a sock in the early 20th century?)

I think there's a banner in that image that says 'Pro choicers are idiots'.
Oh the irony. Coupled with the fact that there are women fighting for their right to NOT be able to choose. They're supporting ideas thought up by men. It's like turkeys voting for Xmas.

Nah, being against gay "marriage" is not homophobia. You're confused.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,585 ✭✭✭lynski

Perhaps homophobic might be an imprecise description, but is there a word for wanting to withhold rights from some people that the rest of the population have?
I have a real problem when it comes to opposition to universal marriage rights, i just can't fathom the reason for it, i have tried to get my head around it but i cant. I totally fail to see how the affection one person holds for another has anything to do with anyone apart from those 2.
I cant comprehend how in 2012 we have the continued inequality in our society.
This has nothing to do with the religious rite of marriage, just the societal, secular, marriage rights and protections.
For centuries the churches have stood over marriage for political, financial, family ties, and other, more sinister, reasons, they have watched, directed and supported women being sold into marriage for centuries. In the case of some religions this is still going on. for them to be so high and mighty about the sanctity of marriage is laughable.

They are all staunchly against masturbation. Every one of them that I've ever told to go and have a good **** when he thrust his foetus porn pictures into my face has immediately launched into a rant against "the sin of onanism" or just put on a gob that expressed utter disgust at the idea of tugging one off. :):)

I sort of pity them, but maybe they'll grow out of it.;);)

That's the males. I guess what the women need is an intensive course of fcuk therapy.:D:D

I bet they hate pepper spray as well, but unfortunately it's illegal in Ireland.:(

Refering to equal marriage rights as gay "marriage" is, can you provide a valid reason for denying a section of the population civil rights? Because I've yet to hear one, and without that it's nothing more than homophobia dressed up as religious concern.

of course opposing same-sex marriage is homophobia, you're discriminating against a group of people solely because they're homosexual.

If you can read this, you're too close!

I think he is trying a kind of silly semantic meaning of words game. It is not homophobia because phobia means scared and he is not scared of them (though I reckon he probably actually is).

@ Actor, would it be more accurate if we called it homodislike or homohatred? Would that more accurately fit your view?

Presumably the abductions, likely involving black helicopter and the secret Euro Army, where the women are taken to the multistory abortionplex which is a requirement of the Lisbon treaty so the women can get their compulsory abortions.

    Please, keep up.

Denying equal rights to black people would be considered racism so denying equal rights to gay people is homophobia..... You just use it under the guise of religion.

No, opinion doesn't carry a lot of weight in a debate. Facts on the other hand, do.

    homophobia, n.
    1. (obsolete, individual occurrences) A pathological fear of mankind.
    2. Fear, dislike or hate of homosexuals.
Denying someone equality because they are homosexual is by definition, homophobia. However, since the basis of your hostility towards gay marriage stems from your religious perspective, would you prefer the term bigotry instead?

It is if your basis of opposition is based on an irrational fear of homosexuals and there behaviour.

Do you have any rational fears for the welfare of children if homosexuals are allowed marry? I doubt it.
