Very easy to get lost on today's xkcd

    http://xkcd.com/1110/

Neat Mario reference if you can find it.

I finished Kafka on the Shore. I liked it despite being very, very confused.

Is there a turret section in it?

It's the reason I never finished Robin Hood, the turret section near the end!

    http://www.destructoid.com/publishers-accused-of-trying-to-exploit-kickstarter-235292.phtml
If a known developer is using Kickstarter to fund its next game, be careful -- the money might end up getting used to ostensibly give a major publisher a new game for free. Obsidian CEO Feargus Urquhart has revealed that publishers tried to use his company for that very purpose. "We were actually contacted by some publishers over the last few months that wanted to use us to do a Kickstarter," he revealed on his team's own KS page. "I said to them 'So, you want us to do a Kickstarter for, using our name, we then get the Kickstarter money to make the game, you then publish the game, but we then don't get to keep the brand we make and we only get a portion of the profits.'
    "They said, 'Yes'."
It's a shame Obsidian can't name names, though one can easily understand why. In any case, this is really low, even for videogame publishers, and I certainly can't wait until one of them is finally caught trying to ostensibly steal IP for free. The sad thing is ... it's just so obvious that it happened. Just once, I'd like to think publishers wouldn't do the ****ty thing I fully expect them to do. Just once. Maybe for Christmas.
Can't even say I'm mad at this. It is predictable, pathetic, and just disappointing.

Hmmm...how did I not see this coming?

When Whiskey mascots decapitating cats with their bare hands is one of the more normal parts of a novel, you know you're onto a winner!

One of my favourite books ever. Was just completely hooked by the tone, ideas and style, even if it's near impossible to articulate exactly why!

Black Mesa tried to get me into a turret section. I said feck that... reloaded and set up a bunch of laser trip mines where the grunts run out instead.

Jake Humphrey is leaving the BBC & his F1 presenting role next year. Feck that, I need another alternative...

Does anyone here have Sky HD/sport package? I've a very cheeky request here which I'm willing to compensate for. Pm me if you know what I'm on about...

On topic post: I prefer retro games to modern ones

If this is the one I have then its also English dubbed audio and terrible. Absolutely awful American accent and they even change the meaning of a lot of what's said or implied.

    Oddest thing happened in work!

The only other guy I know who collects film props sent me a pm.

'Oisin, I have to sell a load of my film props, do you know if there's anywhere I can get rid of them?'

'Noooooooo!!! don't sell your props! you'll regret it so much!'

'I kinda need to, other more important things to pay for'

'Yeah, I know man, tell me about it, real life and all that jazz'

'No...I was so psyched after you bought an Arnie T2 shirt, I had to buy one of my own!!'

His is a grey one from later in the film (mine is a black one from the start) - apparently it has some 'production stains'.

Is it wrong that I envy his stains?

Only if taken out of context.

    For example....

"His is a grey one from later in the film (mine is a black one from the start) - apparently it has some 'production stains'.
Is it wrong that I envy his stains?"
    ,
is fine, in context, you sound like someone looking for the most authentic item for your healthy hobby of prop collecting.

    On the other hand,
"Is it wrong that I envy his stains?",
That makes you sound like some sort of sweat/protein spill sniffing perv who like to engage in some self-abusive ritual using the items in question.

    So remember!
    CONTEXT IS ALL IMPORTANT!

    Hah!

Noted my good Ciderdude, noted. :pac:

This guy also did something pretty amazing. He's a big Aliens buff. Really wanted some Colonial Marine armour made up - he contacted the original creator of the armour for the film (Terry English) chancing his arm to see if he knew if anyone made props.

This is where it gets amazing - not only did Terry English offer to make him up the armour himself (!) he invited him over to the UK to his house to show him how it's made AND his Aliens prop collection.

I think he said he had Hudson's screen used armour on display in his sitting room :D

I'm so jealous. I'd settle for having marine issue harsh language sitting in mine. :D

The 3D map of Dublin city centre on iOS6 is pretty damn cool... looks like an RTS video game.

It is awful but someone had to make a dub of it like, rather it was done right or not at least the people who prefer dubs have a choice.

Just think. In a few years time the resolution on tech like this might be so high you could actually read the price of the SNES in RAGE's window.

That would mean you wouldn't need to ring them to learn it. Woah.

Well I come home tonight to see that the last person to comment on my Legend of Dragoon review has left another message. I didn't want to comment on his last message because it was so blindingly stupid but he is demanding that I now comment on it.

Sounds like you're turning into the Salman Rushdie of A&R! (Hopefully not as dangerous for you though.)
