I made a side by side of the intro section of both myself.
It's in full 3840x1080 (both 1080p vids)so choose "Original" in the res setting if anyone has high res screens.

    Don't take it down Steve!
    I'm downloading it this morning!

    Got it, installing now.
Thing is, it's really to see how they have reinterpreted the game, by the looks of it it goes beyond the mere reskinning that Halo got.
Such a great game and criminal omission from the Orange Box to begin with.

Regarding Binary Domain, played it last night after coming in from Dredd, dozed off during the tutorial.... not a good sign.....

What did you think of Dredd?

I was really surprised at how much I enjoyed it. Karl Urban was great, as was that girl playing Anderson.

My only complaint was that Mega City 1 didn't feel like Mega City 1. Due to the low budget of course, but up until they were in the city block it just felt too contemporary a city.

I think that's one thing which the original Judge Dredd film got right. Overall, it was a pile of ****e, but visually, Mega City 1 (especially the opening 10 minutes or so) looked spot on.

It's a shame you can't take that part of Judge Dredd and then mash it into the new Dredd.

Keep meaning to get around to Dredd, but theres so many good films out after several months of cinematic drought. Kinda tempted to wait til DVD or B-Ray since i dont think anywhere has glorious 2D anymore.

It was very enjoyable, no it didn't look much like Dredd, at least the Megacity, the Lawgiver and the Lawmaster didn't.
The uniform was good and practical, no big shoulder emblems to hamper a good judges work.
The word is that the view we see of Mega City 1 is not the whole thing, we might have seen the slums while other, more wealthy areas have the big arcologies we are accustomed to.
Nice Chopper graffiti in there as well!
There seemed to be some cuts away from the money shots of gore at times, and the CGI blood was a bit naff at times.
Hopefully the former will be reinstated in the DVD/Blu release.
But, for all that wasn't 100%, Urbans Dredd was right on the money, brilliant stuff and refreshing after the sh1te on your new loafers Stallone movie.
Anderson was great too, and Ma Ma was just the right kinda psycho to battle the big man.
I think, for a hopeful sequel, Judge Death will be a step too far, perhaps the Cursed Earth story would be best, the transport, cross the ruined US, of medicine to Mega City 2, on the west coast.
Also, the Judge Child story is too epic to be contained, needs the world of Dredd to be bedded in to the audience psyche first.
Judge Cal would be good also.

My dream is to see a Nemesis and ABC Warrior movies made, but they might be a bit too mystical.

Rogue Trooper could be a cats pjs though, love to see him up there, Slainé another one, Strontium Dog yet another.

There were a few little nods to fans like the Chopper logo - did you see the 'Carlos Ezquerra' block? :)

I really liked the uniforms. The helmets sat a little too high, but they still looked really excellent. I loved how the red edge lining really lit up in the shadows.

The Cursed Earth Saga would work great on a low budget, all you'd need is a bit of waste land and some good mutie makeup.

They were thinking of a Strontium Dog tv show about ten years ago (I think there was even a load of pre production work done) - but it never worked out in the end.

Alex Garland has been working on the Dredd script since 2006. His first go at it was a Judge Death story, so he definitely has a lot of ideas to go in that direction. It's a long time since I read the Judge Child saga, but I remember loving it, it was pretty much when comics got a huge amount of depth to them. Have order Volume 4 of the case files off the Book Depository to have another read of them.

Ah, a Judge Death film would be amazing. Have you ever read Necropolis? That would be absolutely incredible on film if they got it right.

Funnily enough, one of my favourite Dredd stories, 'Judge Death' - the first one you see the Dark Judges in (with quite possibly the best comic art ever drawn, by Brian Bolland) takes place mostly in a locked down Mega City block - very similar to the current Dredd film.

Actually it's very possible Alex Garland had been reading that story as a basis for the Judge Death film...but just axed out the Dark Judges and kept the setting for the film.

I ****ing love these two pages! Some lucky ****er over on comicartfans owns them from what I remember. Must be worth at least 15-20k each.

Wasn't there a great strip that was a update of the Masque of the Red Death?

I remember there was a Durham Red story called Mask of the Red Death. You thinking of that maybe?

There was definitely a strip based on the Edgar Allen Poe story. Had a rich guy who was sealed up in an apartment block that was supposed to be impenetrable by Judge Death.

I really need to read more Dredd. What collections would be recommended?

Hmm, wracking my brain over that one. Is it an older black and white story or a more modern colour one from the 90s onward?

Boyhood of a Superfiend is coming to mind for some reason.

If you've never read America, then pick that up first. It sums up the whole thing perfectly in one story and has some of the best Judge Dredd artwork you'll ever see by Colin Mc Neil.

If you have the money, and can buy all the case files, then go for it! The first one is really just the character of Dredd developing - but the strip does kick into the good stuff pretty quickly, The Cursed Earth Saga being the first proper epic.

    I think so yeah.
Once you install the game it pops up as a steam installed game.

    Edit:
I'm taking those files down at 6pm by the way in case anyone wants them.
There are plenty of other download mirrors now and the torrent is fast enough.

That robocop suit is terrible. Looks like something out of Tron :(

Yeah, looks lousy, maybe with the application of CGI it'll all come together but even that is cheap, given the originals dependence on excellent practical effects, Rob Bottin practicing his craft.
