MGS4 was a massive disappointment and what little game was there wasn't great. Then there was the god awful writing and dialogue in between the scant gameplay.

And that's why I'm looking forward to Revengeance because after the mess that was MGS4 it really needs a bit of Kamiya magic to take the piss out of that mess. What I've heard sounds like it will get a thumbs up from me in the silly department.
I'd post a beatdown gif from Rising, but I feel that it's a little too spoilery.

I'm kicking myself that I never bought that game while it was still on PSN. The demo was great fun and loved it in the arcade. Konami lost the mini license, didn't renew it and it's lost to time now :(
Same here. I was holding out hope that I would see it on PS+, but when I heard it had been delisted, I was beating myself silly for not striking while the iron was hot.

Might I suggest the port of GTi Club on the Wii, in it's pretty good

We're all fanboys of something but sometimes the best approach is to just admit to ourselves that an entry in our favourite franchise was just crap and to stop fooling ourselves that we liked it and declare from on high that nanomachines it is not a satisfactory explanation for everything :P

Well, GTA IV was a big pile of cack when it first came out and it still is today. See? I'm not afraid to admit that.

The story and characters in GTA IV are cack alright. But the city and environment itself was stunning. You'd want to be mental to think otherwise :p

Yeah I didn't really pay attention to the stories and only played the missions when in the mood. Most of the time I just arsed around, milling people out of it in a car or multiplayer. It's a really great looking game alright.

My friend and I were thinking of setting up a blog or vlog that focuses on and reviews 2 player co-op games. Just wondering if there's any out there already and any advice? Retr0 I'm looking at you!

I found a buyer for some pal snes carts I had put away a few years ago to add to my candy cab fund. There seems to be a problem with Donkey Kong Country. Every other cart loads fine but for some reason it seems to glitch a lot sometimes freezing at intro followed by a black screen. Other times you can progress to the fifth level then black screen. I don't know whether it's the cart or the snes and don't want to sting the lad buying them, clean contacts and cart slot still no joy. The other games loading fine points to the cart but I see DKC coming up as freezing it other peoples snes, ideas?

I'm going to chime in and say I quite liked GTAIV, aside from the commuting, what a bore that was, some very poor placement of restart points for some missions, and hence why I have yet to finish the game.

That was my only serious complaint about the game. :)

And, regarding the broken down Donkey Kong Country, I think Retr0 is killing them all one by one such as is hatred for the franchise!
That said DK64 really is a turd, a polished turd but a turd nonetheless!
Shockingly bad, looks awful, disjointed, too much focus on packing in different types of gameplay rather than getting at least one of them right.

Been on a bit of a Turrican buzz lately.

Didn't realise there was a Turrican 3D planned at one point.

Just a short review or 'let's play' kinda things? (2nd then - http://www.youtube.com/show/twobestfriendsplay).

I wouldn't let it bother if it's being done before, once you make it your own.
Are you gonna compare all the Pokémon games 2P battles? I'd watch it

So guys need a bit of advice, I'll be building a hyperspin arcade bartop soon but I'd like for it to have a traditional coin mech too (space permitting of course).

There are coin mechs for sale here http://www.ebay.ie/itm/Multi-Coin-Acceptor-USB-timer-control-board-cafe-kiosk-/250887013697?pt=UK_Sound_Vision_Other&hash=item3a6a080541 that seem to be suited more to Internet kiosk functionality but is there any way that something like this could work with Mame / Hyperspin?

    Thanks!

Yes there were some... questionable design choices in GTAIV but I don't know if I've played an open world game with such a convincing setting. I just loved driving around the place: driving through the neon-soaked 'Times Square' never failed to impress. Encouraged me to play through it even when the missions were less than inspiring (at least Ballad of Gay Tony was fun). And multiplayer mayhem was amazing.

Hopefully V will build on the rich scene-setting and actually include a lot more interesting stuff to do around it. At least they've already promised a mountain, which is always a step in the right direction ;)

While far from perfect the mission design and combat mechanics in Red Dead Redemption were a lot better so I hope they build on that. However they might not, I've always preferred the rockstar games that weren't from rockstar north and they never seem to build on games like the warriors or bully.

Looking to source a gamecube gameboy player! They're fairly expensive by the looks of it. Would a NTSC one work with freeloader?

Pretty sure the hardware itself is region free and all gba games are so in theory it should work using a freeloader, not anything i've done before though.

Everyone is talking about how the safe and boring Ni No Kuni is the greatest thing to happen to japanese RPGs since Dragon Quest. Pfft, fur coat no knickers. What people should be playing is Crimson Shroud, it's brilliant. Can't get enough of the soundtrack either:

Well that's because Ni No Kuni is amazing. Have you played it yet retr0?

I got my boat today - incredibly joyful moment. It's the HD Dragon Quest / old school Final Fantasy we never got *sniff*

Waiting for over a week for playasia to get stock in of fire emblem, they won't ship my order until they do >:(

So considering I haven't played it I might have been exaggerating about it. I wasn't however exaggerating about Crimson Shroud, it's damn good.

Red Dead Redemption, pure bliss, possibly the best game I've played, period.
Can't wait to see if they will produce another one, Red Dead Revolver was pretty awesome too. Probably have to wait a while till GTAV is out a few years, so a new Red Dead game in 2016?

Well no-one's saying that Ni No Kuni is a revolution in JRPG mechanics or anything (although the battle system is a wonderful twist on old school ATB mixed with real time combat). If they are they're wrong, and the reason it could be classed as the greatest thing to happen to JRPGs is that it has made the genre an event and commercial success again, however briefly. It is simply a beautiful, fun, charming game proudly indebted to the great games of RPG past, with a richly drawn world(s) to boot. It can happily co-exist with Crimson Shroud, Persona 4, Chrono Trigger etc..., with gorgeous production values and design pretty much in a league of its own. I don't see how players who love the likes of Dragon Quest 8 (the game it is easily most comparable to - an inevitability given Level 5 involvement) could fail to find much to love about Ni No Kuni.

You do kind of give the impression you've made your mind up on it before even playing it! IMO a lot of the criticisms - especially the supposed pacing ones - have been wholly exaggerated. While there is no doubt a steady, considered stream of new features for the first ten hours or more, it also provides you with lots of freedom to explore and specialise from early on. Certainly no worse and perhaps considerably better than the traditional slow start of a DQ title, and nothing compared to the twenty hour corridors of FFXIII. It is 'safe' in the most pleasant sense of the word.

So Sony's list of confirmed PS4 developers has been revised it seems. Revised down to 30. And no Falcom. I'm not buying one now unless they confirm a HD Ys! (Might not be too far from the truth considering the Ys 4 remake made me buy a PS Vita :) )
