1up closing now as well. What a **** day in videogames.

I guess it's up to the arcade and retro podcast to plug the retronaut shaped hole in the videogaming landscape.

I burned it to a disc and had a quick bash on my PSOne. Really amazing to see it running on real hardware in front of my very eyes.

Got stuck in a wall though and decided to wait for the official release from that team fixing it up. This one is very buggy indeed.

Those guys out there who were hoarding the protos worth in the region of 10,000 euro or so must be going ape **** :D

So, what to play, now I have Ni No Kuni, Majin and the Forsaken Kingdom, Alice: Madness Returns and, courtesy of an unused dlc code, American McGee's Alice, not to mention the other 20 or so games begging for attention.
I can't seem to get my head around Chibi Robo Park Patrol at all.

Is Alice (the original) a reissue or the original Windows version ? Had it years ago and loved it, lost the discs though :(

Original pc game, running on the PS3 via magic, possibly elves have some involvement....

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,729 ✭✭✭The Last Bandit

Cool, didn't know it got a PSN release. May have to invest it that :)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,695 ✭✭✭DinoRex

Ni No Kuni is worth getting in to.

The hand holding from Mr. Drippy is a bit much, but it eventual eases off a bit.

Wish I had more time to play it.

It's got an overworld, and towns with lots of side quests... All the things Square refuses to give you in a Final Fantasy game these days.

Holy crap, where has the last decade gone? Remember this flash video? It's ten years old this year!

It didn't get a PSN or XBLA release for that matter.
The only release seems to be for those with the download code from the Madness Returns game.
Going to give it a lash this morning.

Madness Returns is a fantastic game. It looks great, plays great, and is really simple. I really didn't get into the original Alice that came with it though. Very awkward indde, and not a whole lot of fun.

    Ah 2 of my favourites.
What don't you get? you just have to make the park green by getting out the boombox and turning it at the right speed for the song makes the flowers spread, when you water a certain amount that square will go green and kill the smoglings that attack your flowers (they turn em black).
    That's it in short.

Done a 32X region mod today, & when testing it I grabbed the first cart to hand. Cosmic Carnage...ugh. I should have doubled the price to make it worth my while :D

So, that's what the Boombox is for!
I'll give the game a lash asap!

Alice is gorgeous, even if the genre didn't appeal, it'd be worth playing just to see what vistas are in store around the next corner, the attention to detail is marvelous, so far my fave is the robotic teapots, whose single glass eye gets cracked during the battle, very nice indeed.

I was intending to finally pick up Skyrim this month, but with all of these games to play I'll have no time to play it.

Looks like by the time I get to Aliens :Colonial Marines I'll get it for a fiver!.....
So, some time next month by my reckoning!! ;)

First, second, third...any cart you grab for that console will have a similar experience. There really is no decent original content for it. On stuff worth playing are ports. Tempo and Kolibri, maybe...

Lol, I suppose so. I still have a lot of fondness for it...its inexplicable.

Me too! I think it's as we were saying before, it's almost like a prototype which got released? The games are similar too, like unfinished prototypes the developers tried to rush out.

It can be pretty frustrating when you see things like Metal Head and Darxide. The console is actually capable of quite a lot.

I can't remember if they tell you that or not, you've to get the right pace for the song and it'll sent out more flowers, think you've to get 80%. Lemme know if you're not sure on other stuff.

All of my ❤ for AmcG'sA! The Cheshire Cat is just amazing "here's a riddle: when is a croquet mallet like a billy club?
I'll tell you: whenever you want it to be
    " and DAT MUSIC!

That'd be one of the ports I was saying was worth playing ;)

Mortal Kombat 2, After Burner, Virtua Fighter, Virtual Racing, Space Harrier...all good ports. But the original content? You're talking Motocross Championship, Cosmic Carnage and garbage like that :(

There was time to put some good ports together, but unfortunately most original games are awful.

Kolibri is far and away the greatest shoot'em up ever created with a hummingbird as the main character.

The one I played was very buggy, it was disappointing but still kind of cool. In Leon's scenario I started with no ammo, and couldn't escape the rooftop. In Eliza's I managed to get two rooms in before it crashed.

Has a proto of Resi 1.5 ever sold on eBay?

Nope. Games of a high profile like that would be traded behind closed doors. If you stuck that up on ebay, Capcom would see it and you'd have their solicitors riding your arse within seconds.

The Playstation Museum apparently had a disc but kept on denying it...I'd love to know where this one came from.

I was just over on the PS forum trolling the PS4 discussion thread.
    Is that cruel?
Is it fair to take the easy punts at the fanbois there, or should I show a little compassion and leave them alone?
Go back to trolling the poor lonely souls on the Sega forum instead?

If you happen to have an Everdrive MD handy you can have the entire back catalogue, apparently, which is nice...
