Damn, makes me look stupid for not picking up the game and playing it. Now I will never know what the original game was like to play.

Nice swords will be able to deflect bullets or some ability to do so.

Played second playthrough on very hard and went swords and throwing knives and it was very difficult for the first bit since I wasn't shooting or hacking. Might have been going too far outside lower level zones at start but it was that first few seconds in a fight to get close that usually killed me early on, once I was able to get near and jump in and out of cover while using Sandevistan it went fine. Later it got easier as I'd more armour/health.

Going to load up the game and have a look at my gear as it is now since it's all going to change.

That's not even close, that's just a funny glitch. It was much worse than that:

I picked this up on CD keys for a tenner, about a year ago, and said I'd get round to it eventually when its fully patched / updated.

looks like it'll be worth the wait when this christmas rolls around. (not trolling btw, it just seems like a no brainer to hang on for the new stuff).

It's a totally different game today, not stellar but quite good. And now it is a benchmark for visuals/performance and ray tracing - which is quite ironic considering what it was at launch :)

I'm very tempted to either continue my end game save, continue my early 2nd playthrough save or just wait for the new update and start a new run. Should then have an idea from reviews if the expansion is worth it at 30 or wait for sale.

I don't see any mention of a New Game plus yet. I really would like to try that with a different life path at the start, the new enhancements to the game, plus the DLC. It would be a vastly different experience from my first play at launch.

Even with in the spoiler there's nothing really spoilt.

There's a story mission early on that gave me a progress breaking bug

At launch if you got too far away from an NPC then he'd disappear stalling the missions, So for most of the mission you'd to stay right by him as he walked slowly forward and then near the end up in this apartment you'd to rush to one side to grab something and rush back to him before he walked further away towards something.

During fights you'd to try to stay near him as he moved or decided not to jump over something.

And at the end there's a big cutscene where you and him are talking in a car but I'd him lost at that point so since it's an ingame cutscene it was V by himself talking to himself with only one side of the dialogue.

That was the worst bug for me, but the rest went alright.

I'm at the point of no return on my first playthrough but have been trying to complete some more side content before moving forward. Really tempted to just start a new playthrough once the update comes out.

Sweet. Complete overhaul may not fix the story, but I couldn't get far enough into it to see if the story was worth it at all, so this will be a good update for me. Even after the next gen update, it still was doing nothing for me.

The new patch with all the new features isn't out for a while?

    September.

The PC requirements for the new patch have been updated. They've added some additional higher tiers, rather than changing the minimums.

The update sounds really good. Like the fact that modding has repercussions is something which really felt sorely missing in its original form

For me the issues with 2077 wasn't bugs, it just felt so undercooked. But it also didn't feel a million miles away from being an amazing game either. The discussion around the game is highly polarised because of the decade of hype, but I reckon even with a moderate improvement to its systems brought by this DLC the game will become pretty easy to recommend to people now. In its current form it's not exactly 'bad', it's just sort of CDPR's Fallout 4.

As for story though I thought that was pretty decent and the character writing was great. I just thought the Panam stuff dragged and Saul was a bore, but it's got a decent story and there's some interesting vignettes in Night City.

I've been watching interviews from the cast of Cyberpunk 2077 these last couple of days and they're pretty good so I thought i'd post the interviews for the voice actors of both Male and Female V. They're a bit long but worth that watch I think.

Some images from the new perk tree has a bunch of edgerunner characters as the icons for perks. Can't tell what the perks are just images.

David in the technical ability tree for what looks like the top perk, Lucy looks in the intelligence, and Rebecca on the body tree for some shotgun related stuff.

Really wish there was a NG+ option to restart the game plus the DLC.

Don't see the point in NG+ for this, the only difference between NG+ and just restarting on the easiest difficulty is you won't need to swap out your favourite weapons/gear as you level. NG+ is nice for getting missed trophies/ achievements but I'd not do it to experience the game again.

But either way easier difficulty or over levelled the gear you've got won't matter too much, trash weapons would still let you wipe everyone easily. If your max level by the end then you're already very op, albeit on harder difficulties you could still get 1-2 tapped at times if you messed up.

I've got a sword character that's lowish level so will probably do the DLC with them as it'll be better than starting the DLC with max level character and then having to respec all perks in the new tree rather than levelling up and learning as I go.

Can use bike to catapult yourself into the air and then melee slam.

They said it before but more perks will be abilities rather than a +5% damage boost type

Deep dive into patch 2.0 and the DLC here:

    Summary (robbed from reddit):

They went into some minor story spoilers that I will keep out of this post.

    • Players will be able to immediately start PL if they want from a brand new save file and skip the rest of the main story up until that point.
    • 2.0 will include the new vehicular combat system, the perk redisign, the police revamp (including maxtac fights). There will be a one-time Attribute Points reset.
    • PL will introduce the Relic Skill Tree, Dogtown (duh), Gun-mounted cars, Car gigs, Aidrops. Those will be exclusive to those that have PL.
    • Relic Points will be scattered around Dogtown in unmarked locations that the player will have to explore in order to find.
    • The more you fight there's an Adrenaline mechanic that gives you momentary buffs (they mentioned extra health) and special abilities. The more people you apply the abilities to, the more health you gain back.

An example of mechanics working together:

    • There will be perks in the Tech Tree that allow you to push your cyberware limit (called Edgerunner). But if you go above that limit, you get into "fury mode" where your health lowers but if you combine it with the Adrenaline mechanic, then you can keep going as long as you are aggressive and keep fighting.
    • The aforementioned "fury state" will not make you lose control of your character, so it's not full cyberpsychosis.
    • Sounds like pretty much any melee weapon will have its own special attacks and finishers.
    • You will be able to target the cyberware of enemies and it'll work as a weak point for enemies. Destroying the cyberware will have an AOE-like explosion.
    • Monowire will be able to apply and spread quickhacks via attacks.
    • Optical Camo will have an upgrade that pulls you back to where you enabled it.
    • Dogtown will have casinos that "you can have fun there" (didn't specifically mention gambling, but the implication is there).
    • Dogtown will have distinct districts.
    • Police will chase you and if they lose you they will keep searching for you around the area. There will be icons on the minimap of where the police is and the area they're searching.
    • MaxTac comes down via AVs
    • Police can hack and disable your car if you try to escape.
    • MaxTac can hack and reveal your location if they lose you.
    • MaxTac's minimum difficulty is Hard, even if you have the game on Easy.
    • Police can have different tactics such as trying to T-bone you or set up roadblocks.
    • You can hack and control enemy vehicles if you are a netrunner. The more advanced of a netrunner you are, the more quickhacks you have access to. Hacks include "pumping the brakes", "losing control", "detonation", "remote control".
    • You can run away from the police, but it's more difficult than the current iteration, especially as you gather more stars.
    • On bikes you can use melee weapons and even slash tires from cars.
    • There will be some other dynamic events going around NC and the player can choose whether to interfere or not.
    • Police responsiveness will depend on which district you are.
    • No bribing.
    • Dogtown will have the Barghest instead of the Police, in the Badlands it will be Militech.

    Car Gigs:

    • Exclusive to PL
    • Muamar will contact you went you enter Dogtown and will assign you the task of grabbing cars from around Dogtown and NC and you have to bring them back to a garage.
    • Other gangs will be fighting you for the cars with vehicles.
    • It is through these Car Gigs that you can unlock new cars and gun-mounted vehicles.
    • Some cars you have to follow, others you have to get them via fighting other gangs, others are time-sensitive.
    • You have to lose your tail (gangs or police) before you deliver the car.
    • Muamar will comment on the condition of the car if it's a wreck by the time you deliver it.

    Q&A:

    • Netrunning is significantly changed, they wanted to focus on the player doing more netrunning if they want so that they don't have to combine it with gun-play if they don't want to. You will be able to queue up hacks on enemies. Smart weapons and monowire will have synergies with the netrunning. "It has a very different rhythm to it".
    • Level Cap increases to 60. Street Cred stays at 50.
    • Next stream ("in a few weeks) will focus more on cyberware, armor, enemy AI and the new mechanics and systems of those categories.
    • 2.0 will be released before Phantom Liberty.

Well at least I'll be able to give this another go if Starfield doesn't play out. Sounds like it's gonne be a pretty different feeling game so I'm a bit more hopeful this time.

So, for anyone with the original game, will you get the new patch improvements for free or do you need to buy this DLC ?

  • Registered Users Posts: 8,901 ✭✭✭EoinMcLovin

Check my previous post. It shows what you get for free vs dlc

  • Registered Users Posts: 6,600 ✭✭✭SuperBowserWorld

Ok thanks. I see it on the twitter link. Definitely a game worth waiting for. I got it cheap, and it's being continually improved, and I've yet to play it. Nice one 😀
