I dunno about Nnamdi to be honest. The whole Cox thing is intriguing. Cox seems like a smart guy and not someone who would take it handy after getting paid. I heard he and Pags had a chat on the flight back, Pags told him that he made the call to bench him. It could go either way now I guess. Either he is done for good or he fights like hell to get back to a level where he can be relied on to make some plays and cover some people. His play has been atrocious, and it's not like he was this bad back in Jax.

Shareece Wright is doing ok for me, I'm happy enough with him. It's really his rookie season when u look at the injuries he has had. As for next year we've Steve Williams to come back from IR too, he could be the Keenan Allen of the corners in that he was a guy overlooked cos of his height but plays much bigger and faster.

Saw a Twitter post that cox got benched in jax and came back stronger so hopefully he'll do that

Actually Nnamdi makes no sense here. Cox got paid to play. Wright can't play nickel imo and neither can Nnamdi.

Also a lot of teams can claim him before us.

I presume he'll clear waivers as that contract is too big for him.

Right lads i'm off to south america for 6months tomorrow so doubt i'll get to see too many more games this year.
As a mid-season report the Chargers have hugely exceeded my expectations for this year. We've been competitive in every game and each loss could/should have been a win for us. I think this weekends divisional game will have a massive bearing on how the second half of the season will go for us. To keep a strong play-off bid alive we have to win, this is a must win game for us and the players have to step up and show they can come through when it counts. I think this team has been playing close to its best this year and don't see any area that is hugely under performing.
Here's hoping they can keep the good season going as we seem to have a GM and coach that have got the club pointing up. Momentum is a huge thing in this sport and we seem to be building some.

Anyway best of luck to us for best of the season, hope i can catch a few games at least

Have an amazing trip OAOB!, keep checking in here when u can and let us know where u are/what you are up to.

I'm with you. This year has exceeded expectations somewhat. What I've been most impressed with has been the O what with our 2 top WRs going down before day 1. Having said that the failures in the red zone are extremely worrying in terms of Mike Mc/Whiz's apparent screwed up playcalling. I am hoping this is an aberration that will be sorted out sooner rather than later.

I don't give us a prayer against Denver I'm afraid. I just can't see our D stepping up enough. Mind you, we do seem to surprise all the time witness the performances against Oakland and Indy!.

Have a great and safe trip. Would love to be doing something similar. Hopefully you catch the chargers in the playoffs.

Cant wait for Sunday, I agree Leslie I don't think our defence is going to step up to beat the broncos, but I do think if Butler plays and is healthy they will step up to be better then Denver defence and we will get the win.

Time management is everything Sunday, need another colt like performance.

Also crazy to see the confidence people have known Mathews to get the ball in for a touchdown. One thing he has never got a shot at is redzone offence something I think he be great at. Last week still and will for a while stink

Horror show thus far & its only HT. Secondary killing us once again. Cox benched Wright hobbled & Taylor inactive again. Starting to look at the 2014 DB class now.

We have too many weaknesses to expect us to be successful this year. Unfortunately we are heading where if we are honest we all expected to be this year i.e. 8-8 or 7-9

Yeah I can get pissed off at missed opportunities and crap defence, bonehead playcalls at half yard lines and injuries etc but stepping back from it and looking at whats available on the roster you really have to accept we just are not good enough to be a playoff team this year.

Dunlap was knocked out of the game again last night, our secondary was soooooo soft AGAIN for those 28 points. Not only are we playing too far off we cant even tackle and our corners and safeties looked so weak. Rivers had no deep threat. Every pass was going to be within the 5-20 yard range.

He can only play with the cards he's given. I thought we really missed M80 and Alexander last night.

Having said all that...good comeback in the 2nd half and the team played hard..nice to see Peyton take some hits. I dont get the whole Mathews thing...his stats suggest he should be used more than he is. Woodhead is super but Ryan made 2 big breaks last night that we have been looking for all season. Keep him in there!!

Bottom line for me is our playoff hopes are done but lets push for an 8-8 finish and start working on how we can improve this roster for 2014. Final word....The banged up mish mash of an offensive line this year deserve credit. They are giving their QB a chance!

Agree wholeheartedly S74, we just don't have the players. I was kinda surprised at all the optimism a couple of weeks ago when we were in the 6th seed playoff spot. I had a feeling we didn't have the team to properly compete with an O like Denver. I reckon we will split with KC mind you, we can beat them at home.

Overall though I must say I've been disappointed with McCoy. I know he's a rookie and all, I just hope to F he is learning and remembering what has happened this year, talk about a baptism of fire.

I also wonder about Pagano and his scheme. I'm not sure he has the defensive backs set up to the best of their (lacking) ability, esp Cox. He looks like one of the worst corners in the league out there, I don't believe he is as bad as he looks. Even Marshall looks completely incompetent and he is a guy who has been a highly paid starter in the league.

The most impressive thing about this yr (as you've mentioned S74) has been what Joe D has done with the O line. Unfortunately I can't see Dunlap being a long term answer now, in fact were I his doctor I'd be recommending he take the rest of this year off. So we're back to needing another starting OT and possibly even a center. Nick has been amazing but there is alot of wear on those tyres. I'd love to see us go get Alex Mack who is a southern CA boy and might come for a hometown discount.

LIke you I was also v happy to see Manning getting some treatment what with the ****e the likes of Woodyard was at all game with our RBs. There was serious needle coming from the likes of the Denver D all game. Anyone else notice how their D backs hit and arrived at the time the ball did?, wouldn't it be great to see some killers like that on our D?

If our DBs stepped up a bit I think we could of won that game, which is mental.

A corner in the draft is looking more and more like the pick next April.

What happened on the 3rd and 14 was it a hit on defenceless player? Rivers should of got a call when he slid and got hit late.

Joe D is doing a fantastic job, great to have him on board. Was quite amusing after last week Ryan running the ball in from the 1.

The good news is looks like TT knows how to draft. Fluker and Allen are serious studs already and u never know T'eo might make a tackle some day.

I also raged at the treatment Rivers was getting and no flags. Touch Manning or Brady like that/in that situation and it is immediate 15 yds.

Manning also got battered up and down the pitch last night to the point of injury and no flags were thrown so don't know where you're getting that from.

Matthews came out because he had a slight injury, nothing more than that. The play that pissed me off the most was the slide by Phillip Rivers. He slid way too early, ended up not getting a first down and we settled for a field goal. Seemed to highlight his lack of confidence in his running ability. Was no one getting close to him for a couple more yards. Not the worst performance. The first TD was ridiculous, and the two minute drive at the end of the first was awful as well.

Off the top of my head I recall 2 occasions where Rivers was unnecessarily contacted, once on the slide and the second time a shove after the ball was gone. Manning was hit or tackled right as the ball was leaving i.e. defender was committed.

Yes giving up the 6 at the end of the 1st half after the missed FG was inexcusable and a dagger to the heart, and I too puked at him sliding/falling before getting the 1st down. But he's simply not a runner so I'm not gona give him too hard a time over it. I look forward to the day we have a Russell Wilson type QB wearing the Bolts when #17 is gone (still love Philip as our leader and QB for now).

Novaks missed FG was big and was a momentum shifter and a big points swing ,as was the penalty call for Mathews big run early on. However the 74 yard TD allowed for Thomas was inexcusable. You needed to set the stall out early and get in the donkeys faces from the get go and force a 3 and out. What happens?...playing soft and a lame ass effort at a tackle or force out on the sideline. Bang 7 zip...first offensive series for the donks.

Its a small thing but was it just me or did any other bolt fans feel disappointed with Shaun Philips little display after his "sack" on Rivers?...I mean he was a bolt for 9 years. By all means play hard and give our guys hell but was there a need for the show off display after the tackle?...You gotta show some respect to the organisation and fans of the team you played 9 years for surely??? or am I expecting too much from "professional" sports stars?

Harmless enough. My point is that Manning never got a flag either and he's the one who was limping afterwards, there's as much an argument that Liuget cheapshotted Manning at the end as there is of Rivers taking late hits. i.e. not a lot

I don't think you are expecting too much, but from SP? the lad is a tool plain and simple. Most people in SD hate him. He's a pure gob****e, was a renowned 'player' on the SD party scene and made many enemies. Having said that for his pass rushing ability for 1m quid he should still be a Charger. Not that he is all that great it's just we are really really thin there.

Compare that with Jammer or Vasquez who v quietly went about their biz, respectful of the team that gave them their start.

But the sort of sh1t Woodyard was at needed to be responded to. He was giving it plenty of afters all game. The lad has a real anti-Charger attitude. In a rugby game he'd be the kind to 'get it' at the bottom of a ruck from "the Claw".

I'll need to look at the Liuget one again but if its the tackling of Manning round the ankle then that is fair game, Manning had the ball as Liuget started making the tackle.

In terms of harmless enough... yes you can argue that the 'shove' of a QB is harmless but u and I know that flags are thrown for mickey mouse touches of a QB and the hit on Rivers on that slide was not harmless, and Rivers was already down by contact.

Incidentally, just thought i'd tell you that Jammer wasnt scheduled to start but DRC gave up his starting spot as he felt that Jammer deserved to go in SD after the career he had there. Good of him.

Think Woodyard was asked about it last year, he said that it's cause he's a while on the team now and was on the team when yee would regularly own us and there was quite a bit of nastiness in the rivalry. Hasnt forgotten about it.

I had heard in the build up how Jammer was to be active for this one but did not know about the DRC connection.

Tks for the heads up on Woodyard!!.

Didnt realise that about Philips. His actions definately back up your view of him as a tool. Disappointing.

    Now where?

What an horrific showing in Miami. And it wasn't just the D this time. We saw flashes of Mathews, Green, Allen and Gates but again our O cannot get it done when it mattered. Redzone woes continue.

Really starting to wonder what we have in McCoy now and Pags for that matter. It can't be coincidence that Cox, Liuget, Reyes, Gilchrist and T'eo are having nightmarish seasons surely?

Oh and Clary.... wow. It is so sad to see us having to push him back out to RT. He's not even good enough to play RG in my opinion but RT never again. Here's hoping Dunlap can come back and close out the season and give us Fluker back at RT who in my opinion is our best draft pick since Merriman.

Saw the result but none of the game, seems our season is starting to fall apart. Play off hopes are gone but we need a few divisional wins to make it respectable

I'm all for blowing this season up now and focus on the Draft. I'd even like to see some of Sorensen out there nearer the end of the season.

(not that there is a chance of that happening)

I don't see how McCoy can take any blame. Players made too many mistakes, it's up to them to perform. He realised Green and stretch the field and put him in. Nov wouldn't do that.

This team imo is way better coached, if Keenan doesn't slip we win that game and are 6th seed.
I was impressed with Manti especially in coverage.

This is going to need time guys. Have to get Gaithar Meachem and Rivers big contracts off the book before we can rebuild fully.

Defence plays a lot of cover 1 which is a corners worst friend. In saying that, everyone knows the dolphins play Alot of come back routes and we fell for it everytime. Hate out soft coverage too.

But I'm no where near ready to give up on this season.

You shouldn't be. The 6 seed wildcard will definitely be up for grabs and the team that gets it will be within a game of .500 either way - well achievable.

Yep it is up for grabs but we are F'd, we lose the tiebreaker to Tenn & Miami and have to play KC twice and Denver once not to mention the Bengals. Stick a fork in them lads we are done. Here's to the 2014 Draft.
