Ha, I doubt you have. We used to have gollywog statues on the mantle. My mam loved them. :pac:
Sure, Lyons tea had the "Minstrels" on their ads.. Sooo not PC these days
"Golly bar" icecreams went the same way as the lyons minstrels I'd say, the cupboard of shame!

Disappointed... They didn't have a 22mm socket in inch guise. Had to make do with a 3/4 gun. It barely took the bolt off too :(

That was fun trying to take that belt off, not looking foreward to putting the new one on!

If you can't take it off with a 1/4 inch ratchet you're not a real man

Just a quick one! I put 4 new tyres on a '98 BMW today. How many Km/Miles should I get out of them? They are HIFLY 215/45R17.

I would personally pay to see anyone take off the crank pulley bolt in the picture, with a 1/4 ratchet, to do a timing belt change, without:
    • Breaking the ratchet
    • Any pneumatic help
    • The timing slipping back
    • Having to resort to a 3/4 inch gun :pac:

Would anyone be up for a BBQ meet during the summer though? I'd suggest my place in wicklow but it might be a trek for a few, could tent it in the field next door :D

Definitely, I think a change of scenery would be nice, nice drive through the wicklow mountains and have a BBQ when we get there

I think that would really depend on your driving style and the roads that you drive on

Pfft, use your baby finger to lock it then pull the ratchet

TBH you should be able to just twist it off with your hand

There's the problem, I'll get a pic of the bolt after... It was seized in the crank. There was either no thread lock put on or it was re installed in the damp.

It can be taken off with a 1/2 gun but it didn't take it this time.

You know I'm just yanking your chain right?

I had a similar issue with a crank bolt on a Focus, couldn't get the bastard out. I ended up having to resort to heat along with a silly powerful impact gun which meant I had to replace the crank seal

    Yes, I realised afterwards :P

I don't know why they don't just all use 3 bolts in a keyed sprocket, much simpler!

This bolt was bloody horrible though, it jumped 4 teeth back... Retimed and locked again though :)

Daily vans were even worse, had to buy the cheapest 36mm socket at £40, then hire a compressor and gun... Around €120 just for 3 seconds of work!!!

Well I hadn't intended entering the car in the Dakar rally if that's what you mean.
Just normal driving on standard roads.

    :D:D:D:D

I have put 20k+ on a set of Bridgestone Potenza on the E30, I am pretty sure I will need rears soon but they did pass the nct so they mustn't be too bad.

Not for me...but might be of interest to someone on here..when I was 18 my dream was to have a Nova with one of these hooked up to a NOS kit..

They might suit someoned setup on here and very cheap for 4 of them. (Caveat: Dealextreme can be slow postage how time to time)

    4pack for €7.60

    Bye bye

Got some real bad news today.............

One of my best buddies who is also my mechanic has had enough and is planning on fcuking off to the states in the next month. He's ex-BMW and a top mechanic, a fixer rather than a fitter. Like any mechanic he spends most of his time working on Golfs and Focii so is happy to work on the 7er and especially the T/A. His brother lives in Cape Cod and has a tuning shop there so he will be in his element.

I reckon me and ND will be coming really well acquainted in the not too distant future!
