Like the 318d and the 320d. Both 2.0.

    Same as the Saab 1.8T's, they're 1995cc.

    The E90 325d is a 3l straight 6

    The E60 had a 525d for a while that was actually a 2.5l straight 6

Here's what I used to make it

Do I remember someone here using the Torque Pro app on Android? Any good? Worth the outlay for app and dongle?

I have it and Dar has it too.
I think it's good, probably could use it more, but it does a lot for the price in fairness.
    Well worth it imo.

My mechanic called and he recommended this too, said he could whip up a custom one for very small money, says he's done it loads of times :)

Custom is the only way with something like this. Best part is it doesn't have to break the bank either, that one I made up was with bits and bobs lying around the house an garage :)

Get the timing belt done and you should see a long time of happy motoring.

I'm not sure I'd bother. AFAIK Fiona is only keeping it for the winter. I'd just run it as it is and if it all goes wrong just scrap it and get another one. Not sure it would be worth putting money into it for such a short time. Timing belt would cost about half the price of the car to do it properly too.

Not really, you'd do a timing belt on those for handy money.

Doing the belt on it now, driving it for the summer? and selling it on she should be able to get her 500 back again.

Not doing the belt, the belt snapping, she's down a car, 500 and the price of a towtruck.

surely she's gonna use it for the winter now that summer is gone ;)

When's the belt due on those anyway? Not sure I'd be interested in throwing too much money at it considering how little she bought for.

Ah right, apologies, I thought it was just a stop gap for the winter and then sell it again. Makes sense to do the belt then, I'd imagine if you keep it. :) Best of luck with it anyway.

Most reliable car known to man. The aul fella sold his to his neighbour 8 years ago and it's still driving with over 300k miles on the clock.

Yup, very funky lil tool. I use it any time I'm driving any kind of distance or out for a leisurely drive, not on the daily commute though, although no reason not to really.

The App itself is a bargain with all the free add-ons you can then get that help it do way more. The only expensive thing is the setup you use to use it, if you've got an android already then you're sorted.

Is that what you use the tablet on your dash for man? was curious about that in the phoenix park!

in the E60 525d, the engine was swapped from the 2.5l to the 3l lump in end 2007/start 2008 by BMW. 2.5l engine being the old commonrail from the E39, 3l being the 530d engine with smaller injectors and detune. Some other modifications also to the older E39 lumps.

I'm not sure on the 325d, but it could be a similar scenario. Best to check with the seller, what tax rate is on the car.
