    Any sign of yours yet?

    Nopes.

If it doesn't hit before the weekend I have a trip to the branch to withdraw money and a drive to Athlone to pay a very obliging garage owner ! :(
He could take payment by card over the phone I'd say

But our money needs to be in the account to make the payment, & you can't even lodge the sub you get into your account. So it's cash or nothing.

That's the plan once I get the funds. Otherwise I have to be subbed by the bank and withdraw.

nice car, but at that engine size the market in Ireland is about .0001% of the population.

even in the uk that would be very hard to shift at all, and if someone was in the market for a 5 litre merc, i'm sure an amg would be more their line.

its incredible that a car like this is pretty worthless.,

I'm pretty sure the gravel has also been powerwashed, clayed, rinsed, waxed with Meguairs Gold Class, buffed and left to cure, and finished with Lucas Slick Mist! >_>

The whole car looks off a bit. There are alot better out there for the money being asked for that yoke.

Finding something decent within budget doesn't seem to be easy. People are looking for mad money for cars these days, even your average h/b or saloon that's over 10 years old with over 100k miles are advertised at silly prices. Not all but a fair amount.

Would it be fair to say though that lately used car prices are a bit on the ridiculous side, especially private ads ? And that a fair amount of owners are only making a half arsed attempt at selling. ''No NCT but it will fly through the test'' or ''car is spotless'' Bollocks! its in a sh!t-state you fool, stop bull****ing yourself and others.

I would call myself a daily browser of Donedeal and over the past 12 or more months I've noticed a difference and I understand that others here have as well. Don't get me wrong its a great place to buy/sell. I rang about a Fiesta Ghia with 80k miles a few weeks ago going for around 800, the ad wasn't up 4 hours and your man had already sold it. Happy Days for the owner and buyer.

Maybe I'm wrong about it all but it's just how I feel at the moment. Do voice your opinions though if you think I'm looking at it all wrongly.

That was an opinion on one car, not the whole 2nd car market. Bargins can be had if you have a bit of faith in finding the one suitable for you. It's a waiting game but not a lot have the patience for it.

When looking at cars, I usually trust my gut if I think it might be a lemon or was involved in an RTA at some stage. It's just a vibe some cars have about them. :pac:.

Buying from donedeal etc can be great, I've used it a few times now and it was a great experience.

Where can you get a 2003 AMG for 5 grand? This is great in my opinion.Loads of power and very discreet unlike AMG's.You could debadge it and everyone else would think you're driving an E200 until you accelerate.

I went to see this car when I was looking at BMW's and it was for sale for under 3000.

    http://cars.donedeal.ie/for-sale/cars/3580888

It had crash damage (which the owner was forthcoming with) and a multitude of problems(gear box wasn't tight, crack in manifold, and knocking from the rear). I wonder if the new owner bought it and realised it was in trouble soon after, or whether they're just trying to make a quick buck.
