LTE speeds are only really any use if coupled with decent Data allowances, whats the point in having 72Mb/s with a 1gb/2gb/10gb monthly cap you could use up in minutes? and have to pay thru the nose for?

As rumoured, it's slightly heavier and thicker. The price for the same battery life.

Same pricing structures as the iPad 2.

Available in the US March 16th!

For Ireland March 23rd. Just over 2 weeks, not bad!

    $499 for 16GB!

    32GB is $599 and 64GB for $699.

    No 128GB yet.

Not even worth upgrading from an iPad one for this.

I reckon they should wait longer between bringing out these newer versions of their products. There's a fair difference between this and the 1st Gen but not a dramatic difference on the 2nd generation with this one. They probably could have skipped the 2nd one for this one to have maximum impact.

I don't know about yours, but my iPad 1 is sluggish as hell with the latest software. If I could afford it I would definitely upgrade.

I think the processing power and retina display are big jump ups.

What were you looking for anyway?

I might buy the new one and use my iPad 1 for work.

on the other hand if the arse falls out of the pricing for the iPad 2 I'll just get that

Can i ask what did you expect/want from this iPad that would make you upgrade?

Would love to give the 4G a run. Heard it's quick in parts of London.

People say this all the time but Apple keep selling loads.

Just like with the iPhone I think they will attract people on every 2nd generation.

So iPad 1 users may upgrade to iPad 3.

Most iPhone 4 users will skip the 4s, but 3gs users found it a big upgrade.

Also, they will get new customers too!

Why do people always use their own situation as a reference point?

I would have liked edge to edge and the home button gone..
Have the ipad2 so prob won't bother upgrading.
LTE is pointless in Ireland where we're at the arsehole end of europe in speed etc..
Still for someone on an ipad1 it's a big jump...even going to the ipad2 was in fairness speedwise..

It's still lighter than the iPad 1 though.

You're not really expected to upgrade every year. Thats why you get around 3 OS revisions with each device.

How would you hold it if it had an edge-to-edge screen?

I don't think edge to edge on an iPad is feasible. When you hold your iPad i'm guessing it's with two hands wit your thumb on the frame. It would cause problems when using the iPad if you have your finger already on the screen. The iPhone I think is different and could have the e2e display but I don't think the iPad will ever fully lose it's frame.

Any word on pricing for iPad 2 now?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 22,714 ✭✭✭✭Sad Professor

US pricing is the same. We'll have to until the Irish store is back up to know if it's the same for us.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,326 ✭✭✭Zapp Brannigan

It's still lighter than the iPad 1 though.

I guess, I had to carry an iPad 2 for work and I thought it was just at the right weight. I'm prolly gonna bite on this one so hopefully it won't make too much of a difference.

That said, I will mostly be using it sat on the couch so it's a moot point!

This is either a really short Keynote or the have "one more thing" to show us? 9to5 mac said it'a just an adapter for the iPad but I can't imagine that would warrant keynote time?
