I'm hooked on Niall Boylan on 4fm after 9pm, he is a professional sh!t stirrer, the people who ring in are fanatics or drunks.. either way it's entertaining.

You can say what you like about 95 FM, but you still have to admit there's nobody better for commentary on local hurling. Liam Aherne is a magician. Come on Na Piarsaigh!

Agreed. He also did a very good job (voluntarily) with West Limerick 102. I hope he gets a shot to go on to bigger and better things down the line.....

Speaking of which, what the heck happened to Conor McNamara?

He has been commentating on football for BBC for a number of years now.

Totally agree. If they had brains they'd be dangerous.

Every time I hear an English male presenter on Irish regional radio, and there seem to be A LOT around the country, I can't help but think of Alan Partridge....:D

TodayFm on the way into work, 2FM in work (on the office radio), Newstalk any time after that.

Always hated SSW and their constant dumbing down of everything from news to weather, while making it sound like it was cool to be the same. The Government used to be "Cowens Crew"

Live95 are pretty terrible in their own special way. Their playlists are woeful and most of their presenters are throwbacks to the 1980s. Do they still play the songs where they poorly dub "Limericks Live95fm" into the lyrics? *shudder*

I get excited everytime this thread is bumbed in the hope of news of 95fm's death.... But it is quickly subdued when I learn they are still on the airwaves

    Bast**ds

With a name like ''Chav Ways'' i would think Spin was made for your sort!
To say that the presenters are complete fools is very narrow minded. Maybe 1 or 2 are but not all. I think the station has come on leaps and bounds in the past year or two.

? Its the truth! Station sounding far slicker.. It is what it is- A radio station for the younger audience, i think they have something for everyone. Music,Chat,Comedy,Specialist Shows,Sport,News (Fair enough it's news is not as hard hitting as radio1) but it shouldnt be! It's Spin..and its a success!
    Yes, I do listen :o

I'm comparing Spin to what it used to be 2 or 3 years ago when I used to listen. Since then it has gone down in quality. Spin Talk used to be a decent alternative to Ray Foley and Newstalk Lunchtime, but now it's just terrible to listen to, half the time they just talk about pure rubbish.

I'm being honest here in saying I can't actually listen for longer than 15 minutes any more before I'm switching, and I'm only 19 so I should just about still be in their target audience. The inane chatter on the chart shows is awful, and the mix of music is terrible. They overplay songs to a sickening degree. If you listen for any prolonged length of time you'll hear loads of repetition of the same old songs. I've nothing against chart music per se, it's just there's only so many times you can listen to Rihanna in a day.

The news content isn't an issue for me. Granted I'd rather they give an actual weather report rather than that 5 word weather thing, but people don't listen to Spin for news coverage.

I'll say one thing for Spin though, the show in Irish they do on Saturday mornings is actually pretty decent, and their sports show is pretty good as well.

The presenters on Spin sound as if they are best friends with every Z-list celebrity out there. They only care about gossip and they are obsessed with whatever happens on Twitter which to be honest I don't care about at all.

I remember when Spin started out they had a decent selection of songs and the 10 in a row was pretty good but now it seems like they have only 10 songs in their whole setlist. The station has gone downhill and to be honest I'd prefer to listen to static.

One thing with the DJ's on spin is, they don't get to pick whats played. Its the one guy in charge of all the shows AFAIR.

http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/showthread.php?p=79222319 Here's a link to a thread suggesting SPIN is worst station in Ireland. Comment on it please with your opinions
Has anybody actually tuned into SPIN South West lately?

I must say the station has actually gone dire over the last 6 months.

Although the station is independently managed from it's sister station SPIN 1038 in Dublin they have pretty much copied everything, show names, voice over artists , some shows are networked ( hit 30 na h-eireann, club educate with John Gibbons) and in the past week they have the news networked down from Dublin station, which is absolutely ridiculous as it's Dublin people reading out Dublin news for the South West. Nobody wants to know about what happened in Blanch!

Also the new jingles they have in the last 2 weeks, sound like a child made them on a casio keyboard.

Some of the on air "Talent", wouldn't even be qualified to listen to a radio.
There is Bridget who spent an hour of a show thinking her microphone was on high but it was at, I'd say 10% volume.
Don't even get me started about Nessa Harney or self proclaimed Horny Harney. That woman, supposed to be doing a "most music " request show (TRL) spends more than adequate time bullsh**ting about how she shaved her armpits that day and they were really smooth. Also referenced a text to "say hi to the lads" asked them to text back in and if "they were wearing much clothes".

Finally anybody who has managed to actually listen to a full show on SPIN south west will know that it's like if SPIN has the latest NOW! That's what I call music in their computer and just randomly play songs off that, repeating them all after about 2 hours.
I think it's a sorry excuse for a radio station and would be better if they just went off air.

    Opinions???

I hate all the radio stations. I'll listen to a CD in the car, otherwise fill the gap with conversation. Failing that a silent drive can be nice.

Anything is better than listening to what is considered to be music nowadays.
